Also, I never cooked my oatmeal, just made a slurry out of it with cold water. I wonder if cooking mitigates the chances of mold forming later. I do mine in the microwave. Use a MUCH larger bowl than you think you will need since it will boil over and make a big mess if you don’t. I also place a damp paper towel over the bowl to contain spatters. I add quite a bit more water than I would for making my own oatmeal because I’m cooking it longer to break down the starches more. 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Sapphere Posted September 7, 2021 Author Share Posted September 7, 2021 I am using some 1 quart canning jars. The ones that have a 2 part lid with very shear cloth. I tried some of my vinegar eels in these and I think I am getting a better yield.
