  1. I have been trying with a pair of these but my eggs repeatedly funguses in peat. So I tried this method with a paper towel and blue juice and I am not optimistic. I was thinking 1 drop in 500ml as a starting point for storing them in. Any comments or advice available?
  2. Looking to add a RO System to the fish room. Any suggestions?
  3. If they are going in my guppies I do not. If they are going in my Rams I do. Guppies like salt, Rams not so much. So for me it matters on the fish.
  4. So far I have bread, Ram, Angels, Annual Killifish, Rainbow and of course Guppies. Currently working on Apistos and Axolotls and just set up a tank for Discus. What would be some other good fish to try breeding?
  5. Cycling a new tank and these have moved in.
  6. I move them to a bottle first then, with a pipette off the top.
  7. I am using some 1 quart canning jars. The ones that have a 2 part lid with very shear cloth. I tried some of my vinegar eels in these and I think I am getting a better yield. I think it's because it has more surface area and air exchange than the bottles I was using.
  8. I have a few more questions. How often do you start new cultures at a minimum? Do you start one every week, every 2 weeks, ect? How long do they generally last? What is the ideal time to feed (Max Yield)? Is there anything else I need to know that I have not asked?
  9. Thanks for the help. I followed your recipe.
  10. What is this? From a face book post, permission was granted to reach out for answers: As posted; It's growing off a nirate snail. Nothing kills it. And it's hard! It is a snail. Size of a quarter. We have treated the tank with parasite and fungal stuff as well as algae. He moves around well, eats and has grown. We have cut them off but they grow back.
  11. I use the one I got for my kid. We can see the cell structure in onion skin. It goes to x800. It is not high quality by no means but it works.
  12. I seen 2 similar videos on YouTube for this method. What is Room Temp for you. I am on the gulf coast so 80+ degrees is normal for my fish room. I will experiment after/if I get the culture going but I would like to remove as many variables as possible to get started. Thanks for sharing your experience.
  13. I can't say that I need a culture. I have been breeding Rams and I have been able to get them on brine shrimp by feeding Sara Micron and Vinegar Eels reliably. I would like to breed CPDs someday but I want this down first. I do like the idea of drip feeding the fry trays for the first few days instead and would like to see if I can make it work but a steady supply would be a must. I have been making 6 cultures each time 2 on a window seal, 2 on back porch, 2 in fish room. and consistently fail. I am using water from a 75 gallon community tank with 2 bristle nose placos. I will just keep trying until the culture get here.
  14. Like 6 Koi...No issue in South Winter just don't feed until Spring. They eat plants and he would like feeding them just throw in a few Koi sticks with your morning coffee and again when you get home. They look cool and don't destroy anything maybe some long finned ones.
  15. There are a few "Paramecium" from Carolina what one did you use? I am reading through the information on the website now.
  16. I tried to generate a infusoria culture a few times now and they have all failed. I have used veggies with water from an established tank those 3 failed. I tried one with yeast and tank water. Tried both recipes with water from the 100gal tub in the back yard. Now I am about to start a hay/dried grass recipe. All from YouTube. The all get cloudy but never seem to make it to that streams of food stage. I am looking at it under a microscope as well. Any experienced suggestions out there? Also, has anyone tried the Paramecium from Carolina? If so how did it work out?
  17. I might have a solution for getting a good start for plants that I will want to move later or rooted plants in my bare bottom breeder tanks and It occurred to me that this might be a solution for fish who like to dig up plants as well. This is just one of those free pantyhose socks from the ladies shoe store filled with aqua soil and water sprite. Dose anyone else have a plant solution like this? Has anyone tried something like this only to have it fail and if so how?
  18. Gold Ram Fry in a grow out tank. They are a little camera shy.
  19. Have you seen these? https://www.tankmatez.com/collections/all
  20. New Beta made it through quarantine. Time for her new tank.
  21. I think I could do it in less than a year if I tried.
