JustinP Posted July 27, 2021 Posted July 27, 2021 So I just setup a new tank.. have had some in the past but just started getting into planted tanks.. I come home from work and this stuff is on my plant and idk what it is.. is it harmful?
RyanU Posted July 27, 2021 Posted July 27, 2021 That looks like hair algea. I had it in my tank when I first set it up. It's not harmful and will eventful go away on its own. Being that the tank is newly set up you will see weird things like that for a while. 1

I had the plants in another tank floating for about a day before I put them in this one.. but none of the other of the same plants in that tank have any of that anywhere.. just looks ghostly and ominous lol..
Guppysnail Posted July 28, 2021 Posted July 28, 2021 It looks like a harmless bacterial colony. It will go away or you can remove it. Same happens to driftwood. 4

TankofFish Posted July 28, 2021 Posted July 28, 2021 happens a lot to tanks that are going through a cycle 1
