Kilrkitty08
Hey Fish Friends! I have 3 pea puffers in a 20 gallon and I thought about trying to hatch Brine Shrimp to add another food source. I feed them live ramshorn, frozen blood worms, and frozen Carnivore Lover blend but I have always wanted to hatch brine shrimp. Can you rinse the salt off the live shrimp before adding them in the tank. I don't use salt in my pea puffer tank because they dont have scales so it didn't seem right to add salt. Any advice on Pea Puffers or Brine shrimp would be greatly appreciated! Edited July 8, 2021 by Kilrkitty08

You can get a small measuring pitcher, draw out a few cups from the tank, and then squirt ca 50-100 ml. of your live / fresh brine shrimp hatch into that. It will dilute the salt. Then you can place near a light and draw shrimp out from there. It has the effect of “washing” the shrimp. 1
Lowells Fish Lab
I think that's a great idea. I have a couple of pea puffers and they have done very well on live baby brine shrimp.
KBOzzie59
Yes you can rinse it. You will want to google "brine shrimp sieve".
Kilrkitty08
Thank You so much I'll wash my shrimp this way and I'm glad to hear of success with pea puffers and brine shrimp. It's so nice to get information from experienced hobbiest!
Guppysnail
@Isaac M turned me onto hobby atremia sieves (Amazon) and got me started with brine. I drain the shrimp into the sieve the use a turkey baster and squirt conditioned water over them. Super easy 1
