Emily M
Hi all! I started fish keeping in the middle of the pandemic. Now I’m obsessed...with the biology, chemistry, and beauty of this hobby. I’ve learned SO MUCH in the last year...thanks to many of you in the forum. I’d like to show you how it all started with this tank that I put together for my daughter, and is now in my home office/fishroom. It’s a year old, the only fish in there now from its inception are habrosus corydoras which were my first successful spawn. It’s a 10 gallon and now dedicated to them, as well as “Goggles” the hard-working Nerite who was the first creature to move into this little community and going strong. Plants are a mess. Still a novice there, but am learning month by month... SO I thought I’d share a post ONE YEAR IN (my 1-year aquariumiversary?) pics. I’d love to see what other keepers have done in the last year. Before and after shots welcome! Let’s celebrate making it through this unprecedented year. In last year, I learned to LOVE sponge filters, and floating plants. Also learning that I Strongly Dislike duckweed, but will live with it for now... Also learned that I’ll eventually need to transplant the sword to a different tank, but I’m not ready yet because my corys are so happy...see below for a picture of my very happy habrosus corydoras and pictures from when I first set up this tank May 2020, in my daughter’s room. I think I can safely say it’s seasoned and I couldn’t be happier! 6
Isaac M
Happy anniversary! haha your aquarium definitely looks seasoned now, it looks great! I have always wanted to keep some habrosus corys, looking at your aquarium only makes me want to get some even more haha especially since you were able to spawn them, that is a great accomplishment within your first year, congrats! Here is the progress on 2 of my aquariums that I have pictures a year apart or so for. xXInkedPhoenixX
I had a 5 gallon that was running pre-pandemic. I started my 20H in Sept 2020, baby Otos appeared in March 2021. I too, started with an HOB and now run a sponge and an air driven corner filter. This month decided to do a complete overhaul so it no longer looks like the original tank design. I have an unknown number of Otos running about. Edited May 8, 2021 by xXInkedPhoenixX 1 more thing.

Habrosus are wonderful, but they spawn only 2-6 eggs at a time. But they are totally worth the worth the wait!

Isaac M
@Emily M thank you, I appreciate it! I have links to the journals for both of the tanks in my signature below if you want to look at how they progressed over time. Corydoras are my favorite fish to keep and I just like how the habrosus are small and swim in the mid-water of the aquarium. 2-6 eggs a spawn is not bad, makes each one just that much more special haha

Yanni
This is my 40 gallon breeder tank that I got to setup sometime at the beginning of the year! It's pretty much a breeding tank setup that I decided to aquascape. Trying to get some guppies and bristlenose plecos to breed in there. Hopefully it'll grow in really nicely
Emily M
So nice! I bet the bristlenose are happy in there!!
Mmiller2001
I was fortunate to have been in the right place at the right time with the 75 gallon. If I remember, either January or February, I walked into a box store and grabbed the 75 gallon kit; stand included for 250 bucks. I see they want 500 now, ouch! Before and after. Now we slide her exersaucer in front of them. Edited May 8, 2021 by George H
