  1. Currently treating one of my tanks for ich. I was finally able to get ich x this weekend and did my first dose this morning. I dosed 10ml for the 20 long and fish seem fine. I did notice one of my rosy loach has a small area that kinda looks like it has fungus on it. I have dosed salt before at 1tbsp per 5g on my 40 breeder and the plants really took a hit but they were able to bounce back. I did dose 3 teaspoons of aquarium salt for the 20 long because my plants are still trying to adjust after my rescape, the weekend before this last one. Most of them haven’t rooted so I’m not sure how well they will take salt when they were just planted over a week ago. Did I put too little salt? Or should I add one more teaspoon? Should I dose ich x tomorrow or wait 48 hours? Cant take a photo of the rosy loach but it looks like she has a super duper small cotton ball on the dorsal fin. Temp at 78. I don’t wanna raise it because of the panda cory and I’m trying to see if I can treat ich while keeping the tank at this temp Ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, ph (0, 0, 10, 7)
  2. I've stopped mixing equilibrium/alkaline base/acid base to get the ph where I want it with RO water and just started mixing in tap. 8.3 out of the faucet. I keep the RO in a bunch of gallon jugs and started keeping 2 gallons of tap water in jugs as well. I am adding either prime or stress coat to the tap to dechlorinate. I am wondering if I do this ahead of time a day or 2 if I can use just enough to treat the gallon and not the entire planned tank. Question is how long does it take for the prime to work?
  3. Hi all. I'm have a bit of an Ich problem. The only medicine I have available is a formalin and malachite green solution made by a company called aquasonic, similar to Ich X but not by the same company. this particular med has 400mg (milligrams) of formalin and 0.32mg of malachite per millilitre of solution. the dose is 1ml per 40 litres of aquarium water and to repeat after 3 days. my first question is would i do a water change after the three days before dosing again. My guess is yes but I don't really know. My second question is probably the most important. one of the tanks has a tandanus catfish which is native to Australia where I live. this fish is known to be sensitive to formalin and malachite and I have killed two with this particular med at full dose. My LFS told me to half dose (1ml per 80 liters) every day for a week then water change and start again. does this sound right or did i mishear them as that is radically different from the bottle instead of dosing once every three day i would be dosing once a day even though at half dose it feels like a lot I'm not sure if the med "gets used up" hence why you need to dose every day at half dose or if i have misheard the store. hopefully as this is similar to Ich X someone will have some insight on what i need to do. and should i turn my lights off while treating as I read it deactivates malachite and formalin but i cant find any conclusive info Thank Christian. water parameter pH 7.8 its a little high im brining it down. ammonia 0 nitrite 0 nitrate 10 ppm Hardness 160 temp 26 the cat fish really doesn't like it any higher usually run at 24 but higher while treating (Edit, i rang my lfs when they finally opened on new years amd they said i was correct so ill try that. thanks.)
  4. This may seem like a dumb question but here it goes. I'm going to medicate a 36 Gallon tank. I have to use one packet per 10 gallons of water. Do you all think it would be safe to assume I'm closer to 30 gallons of actual water in the tank then 36 gallons after facturing in the substrate and decorations, right?
  5. Hello everyone! I just bought the trio pack of aquarium co-op meds and was wondering how to dose my 29gallon tank. Direction say to add a packet for every 10 gallons, etc. Should I round up or down? Thank you in advance!
