Lmfao thank you good sir/mam cards just landed in the right place for me which usually is not the case 😅  what's your biggest tank ?

    Currently or ever? 🤣

    I currently have 18x 20 gallon ...3x 5 gallon...1.5 gallon cube and a 150 gallon pond.

  2. Well your tanks was never fully cycled.  Your first bit of bio load came from the mystery snail which is very small.  You had the snail for a week and then added 3 fish.  then one week later another 2 fish.  You were increasing the bio load faster than the bacteria could multiply to keep up until we are here currently.

I would do daily water changes at about 1/3 to 1/2 to remove the ammonia and keep dosing for the full tank the neutralizer to protect your fish and snail.

  3. temp calibration should be set to 0.  Unless you tried to check the calibration using one of the 2 options we are going to assume they are calibrated correctly for now.

You need to set the heaters individually BEFORE they are plugged into the controller to 81 deg.  This way technically the heaters are always on.  When plugged into the controller the controller will be controlling power to the heaters and controlling temp that way.

  4. Ok...first things first....Take a deep breath!!

Good...now how old is this tank?  You said its fairly new.  What you are experiencing is coming from the fish and snails as a complete bioload.  REMOVING THE SNAILS WILL NOT HELP.

Your tank needs to cycle.  You have alot of critters (5 fish a mystery and the ramshorns) all at once added to a brand new tank.

The first things I would do is a water change to bring down the ammonia and then treat with a water conditioner to neutralize the ammonia

You are going to have to do daily water changes and treating with neutralizer to make sure the ammonia does not harm the fish. Your cycle is going to take longer because of the water changes but eventually it will cycle

  5. WOW thats awesome!!  To have a score of a beautiful piece of wood and then to have a tank actually big enough to utilize it well...ok I am officially envious!

    PS

    You officially suck!🤣

  6. I have never used one personall and I believe they work quite well from what I have researched about them.  But in my opinion...they are way to expensive for any large number of tanks.  They cost as much as a small HOB and you still need an air source to run it and no option for any chemical filtration unlike with a HOB.

Its basically a very large sponge filter .... SO if thats the case Id rather run a large sponge filter at 1/3 the cost.

I do know that Dean uses them in Some of his tanks...not sure why some and not others. Probably hast to do with the breeding requirements but dont quote me on the.  Cory doesn't not use them at all and told us so in one of his videos.

I am curious to her @Zenzo thought on them and what types of filtration he has going in his fish room.

The best fertilizers are dry fertilizers because in 5 minutes, you can create any all-in-one fertilizer, on the market, at a fraction of the cost.

Could you explain how to do that?

but pretty much any and every brand of filter will eventually need a bit of help to get the impeller restarted.

The rubber inserts that the impeller has on both sides tends to wear and cause friction.  When they get stuck a lot that you have to nudge...replacing the rubber end caps has always solved the issue for me.  Last thing I want is to have the power go out for 10 min when not home then come back on but the filter doesn't start running again.

  9. How long ago did you move him from QT and he has been in his new home?  Its possible that he is just a bit stressed and needs time to get adjusted.  I would turn out the lights for a day or so and let him get acclimated to his new environment and make sure he is eating.  Just Wait and watch.

neon color mix gravel (often sold for Glofish), but there's more black and purple than any other color in it

In my 20 gallon cube the only black gravel I could find was the Glow gravel in black.  It has been in the tank for a few months now and the water is crystal clear.  I am hoping you find the cause but not sure its the gravel.

  11. While I have been an aquarist on and off for most of my life…I have been an avid modeler all my life.  This is a area where some of my modeling tools help with my aquariums.

    Meet the typhoon mixer…34705696-5BA3-4B2A-ADE6-C9E85FDA14DB.jpeg.8be9a05a92328a707d805393d1d2f3c2.jpeg

it is an industrial mixer used to mix modeling paint. But it also has an adapter for test tubes.
    No tendinitis in these arms😁
