  1. Does anyone know a way to keep a population of black worms thriving so I don’t have to keep buying them at the LFS?
  2. Maggie, I have had the same problem trying to get food to Hillstream loaches. For being known as being slow, snails can be fastest at getting to the food!🐌
  3. SWilson, the plant is some kind of variegated Ludwigia that was at a LFS near me. I didn’t even realize it was variegated until I got home because I forgot my glasses when I went out!🤓
  4. You are planning to do things that seem like they would help. Hopefully when you get some more puffers and arrange the plants differently, it will work out better. You sound like you are doing a great job! I am having the same problem with a juvenile Half banded eel. But even feeding him with a tweezer after putting food in there for the guppies, the guppies love the smell of bloodworms and would come and steal all of his food. I ended up rehoming the majority of my guppies and now I am trying to think of tank mates that will be larger so he won’t swallow them when he gets bigger but who will not put compete him for food. I have been trying to tuck the food into the substrate right in front of him. But he is not quick at gobbling it up as a lot of fish are. Any tank mate ideas to suggest?
  5. It’s funny you said that—I just put two Axolotls into their new 40gal tank with Hornwort floating in it and one of the rather slothful creatures was floating in the hornwort looking very RELAXED in her new digs. I couldn’t get a picture of her up there but here she is saying “Hi”:
  6. I was hoping to go to a dark colored (black) substrate for my new fancy Goldfish tank to enhance their dark colors. I know crushed coral has been suggested to keep mineral content up in the water column for them. What about substrates suggested for Cichlids? Does anyone have other suggestions?
  7. I found some shut off valves and syphoned and filled my tanks from the basement. The shut off valves (all metal brass ones) seem to still let a small amount of water through when I close them. I have one by the tanks and one down by the utility sink in the basement. First try wasn’t too bad but I had to run up and down the stairs trying to get the temperature right. When I thought it was good from downstairs I think someone flushed the toilet and the water got too warm suddenly! I will make sure that doesn’t happen again!
  8. Oh and it needs a shut off valve on the end that is attached to the aquarium.
  9. A water change system that works with garden hoses. A hook that attaches to the hose to keep the hose from slipping off the aquarium when filling and a clear syphon tube (24 inches) for gravel vacuuming which a screen built in to it to keep snails and fish out that can screw on to the hose when taking water out. It doesn’t seem to difficult of a dream does it?
  10. I noticed that the package label on Wondershell mineral blocks state that they eliminate chlorine in the water. Does anyone know how quickly they can do this? Does using Wondershells in an aquarium eliminate the need to use de-chlorinators during a partial water change?
