gardenman Posted December 13, 2020 Share Posted December 13, 2020 It's a biofilm. Some plecos, otos, snails, shrimp, etc., view it as food and will devour it. If you don't want any of those in your tank than chemical means are your only real option, but even then the film is likely to recur. Driftwood is an organic material and will breakdown in water and attract bacteria/fungi which will then create a fresh biofilm. 2 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Kat_Rigel Posted December 14, 2020 Share Posted December 14, 2020 I had a great big piece of driftwood in my 55gal that did that, way worse though. I ended up just grabbing most of it and pulling it out of the tank, it cleared up shortly after. It will go away eventually. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
