Miska
I honestly think it might be a giant bladder snail that has grown without competition or my tongs lmao. I had about 25 cherries before your 50! And then I think some babies just happened. I put about a bakers dozen over in the 36 that I caught. 1

Miska
Hi there! I haven't been super active because the hubs and the daughter was home for Easter Break. Which was awesome! We ha a chill spring break, we didn't go anywhere, and honestly that was the best part. We did some activities around the Upper Chesapeake Region and I even got daily naps! It was a dream. Okay now for the tanks: 1. 36 Gallon- Everyone is doing great. I spotted 7 Panda Cories of the 8- and the smallest is the one I can never see, so I figure if I can see 5-7 of them they are all fine. Everything is testing well in there too. But the plants... the plants are dying so badly. I need can't kill 'em plants. I knew the fancy plants were a mistake when I got them- but I got excited at HoT. *sigh*. Oh well. I bought a new HOB for it but it isn't working so I will probably take it back with the heater I got that didn't work and the lens for my phone for taking fish pictures that didn't work. 2. 10 Gallon- I have Dotty Darters (Endlers that I got from an action that are so cute! Their little top fin has polka dots on it so I named them) and topsy (it's a el Tigre, the only survivor which is hilarious because he swims upside down) and my masco trio in there. They seem happy and the water sprite and the salvinia are doing great. It is a lower flow tank. 3. 5 Gallon Shrimp tank with a lone Endler (Mr. Clean)- Doing well, but I still want to upgrade it to a 10 gallon. I have the upgrade. I just... need more time and energy. I've been focusing all my energy lately on my gardens. And I am not even done planting 1/10th of the seeds and bulbs. I wish I had garden help. 2
PearlTheBetta
I just hopped on here because of your signature. I have 6 kids. The younger 3 are my crotch goblins (5,8,&9). The older 3 are... not. I got my oldest 2 at 13. They are now 15. When I got them, they were so clingy and shy and they needed me for everything. Now, they're sassy, independent, and self confident. I am so proud of them, but they are definitely hinting that I need a hobby lol! How do you know when to let go? Please, fish, never grow up.
Miska
I have an 11 yr old, and she is not of my loins (I can not figure out a way to say that that does not sound weird). I do not know when you let go, but I promise 15 is not it. I used to teach hundreds of them. You can hold on a while longer. 🙂 Fish is a good hobby! So is gardening, that's what I picked, and I am back on my gaming (if anyone has wingspan on steam and wants to play, just saying). Birding is another thing I love. 😄 Are you thinking about a new hobby @PearlTheBetta?
Miska
Afternoon, I have had a five week long sinus infection and am finally feeling better enough to post. It's been a month of allowing the tanks to just be and I'm really happy with the results. Everyone is established and doing well. I am almost ready to add piano snails and a honey gourami into the 36 gallon. The five gallon is going to get an upgrade, but not until I am back to full strength. I have a ten ready to go, and then I will give the five to @Elodie Rose. I am hoping in a week or two. If I get back to full strength. The 10 with the auction endlers is doing amazing. Water Sprite and mini salvina in there are doing great. I do not have an recent photos, but I am hoping to start taking some soon again. We did the weekly water change on each of them yesterday. 2

Miska
Okay! Thank you so much for asking. Spring and summer are my busiest times so I have not been doing much else besides maintaining them. I am going to start generally planning my winter project, which I am thinking will be rice fish. 1

Miska
Hi! Summer is coming to a close, so I am back! things get insanely busy here in the summer, between animals, kids, and vacations. All of my tanks are doing wonderfully! I have hundreds of shrimp! I have just been doing general maintenance, except, I have fallen in love with a surprise fish I got. Somehow a Gardneri Killi Fish in one of my tanks! It just showed up one day, so an egg must've been a hitch hiker? I love him. He's gorgeous. That's my aquaponics tank, which I have up and running, but have not planted yet! My Otos and Pandas are still my favorite babies. I have them all and they are all doing so well! I have not had any deaths all summer! I did remove most of the endlers from my tanks. They were not sparking joy, so I am thinking about what I want and if I want to expand to more than 3 tanks. I think it's important to be intentional and ethical with my fish instead of expanding too rapidly, and causing more death and suffering to fish than necessary. I am not interested in becoming over extended. I also am more and more interested in vegetation. I took a Sub Aquatic Vegetation Course this summer! And I want to try and incorporate as much native vegetation as possible. I have been talking to a local who got me back into thinking about my tanks, which makes me happy. They are my winter time blues hobby, turns out. I've been so busy investing my time into Native Plant rewilding and gardening, which just makes me so happy. I'm hoping to learn how to turn most of my tanks into aquaponic tanks so I can work on generating seedlings to add to my gardens! I am the official librarian of a chapter of Wild Ones in my area, and I am an active member of the Natural History Society (Lepidoptera and Herpetology Club member!) I've also spent the summer doing some really strong growth, personally. Therapy, personal development retreats, and trauma informed therapy. My therapist is wonderful, and has been helping move away from negative patterns (and people) in my life, and setting healthy boundaries. It's been transformative. My family is stronger and healthier than it has ever been, and I have been living that sober life. I'm also working on being open about my eating disorder, and am working with a nutritionist. I've dropped forty pounds, and I am dealing with my chronic pain in a more manageable way! Healing the land and myself. I'm hoping to get get to my local fish store this week to get Otos and Pandas for my 10 gallon, and to add to my Panda colony for genetic diversity. We did have some egg laying but they got eaten before I could get to them. I've got to work on vegetation. My Java moss and guppy grass seem to be doing well, and my pearlweed is *finally* growing strong. But I want my tanks to be packed with good strong vegetation that thrives. I hope to hear from everyone! I absolutely missed everyone, and am looking forward to the fall-winter rhythm as it comes. 1

Miska
Thank you! We went through some hard things, lost my dog, she was 14. Lost a friend or two who aren't on this journey with us. But overall, it has been one of the best summers of my life. We had some great growth!
Miska
Winter Update: The tanks are back in full swing! I am adding house plants too. My son wants "rainbow fish" so we are going to work on setting up the 20 long or the 55, I have not yet decided. We are also getting a betta this week, in my 6 gallon. I'm setting it up now. My Killifish is a fin nipper so he's in his own tank where I think he ate all my little shrimp. Thankfully there were only a few in there, the 100s are in the 36. I am considering turning a split 5 I have into shrimplandia. I am also looking at getting rice fish for a bigger tank. I despise guppies, and so I am trying to offload mine (my kids love them, so they are going in their own tank). Ottos are my heart song, I have 6 right now that have done amazingly in my 36, so I want to up the numbers once I remove the guppies. Maryland has started an aquarium club right in my hometown! I am so excited, some of my friends were telling me about it, and it seems like it is getting up off the ground. I'm part of a local GSA community, and we have some fish folks in there too. I shared this forum with a few of them, and I hope they join!
