Jimmy
Thought this was worth posting. This is my 40 breeder that has been up for 2 years now with a healthy amount of pothos growing out the top and slowly in the aquarium. It bleeds into a monster 2 foot portion of anubias barteri perfectly. Bonus water bottle on top the aquarium. 5
OceanTruth
Dang that looks amazing! I can’t seem to get a portion of pothos going in my tank, so I’m envious.
Minanora
Until recently, I wasn't aware that pothos could grow leaves in the water. That is so cool. Very nice tank.

It's about the same size as yours!

We have had this start growing up the wall several times but inevitably one of my toddlers has their way with it. For the submerged growth it’s even slower but eventually leaves start growing in the water. On 11/6/2022 at 7:48 AM, TheSwissAquarist said: Have you seen @Fish Folks pothos? This is exactly what I wanted to do with my jar aquarium. I have been shy about taking cuttings from my pothos, but I need to get with the program because this is just fabulous!
Fish Folk
Looking beautiful @Jimmy. Thanks for sharing! I agree, the transition from Pothos to Anubias is magical. (random) I remember that Gary Lange had some very attractive broadleaf plants growing immersed in his fishroom. I use Pothos in many of my tanks. None look as nice as yours, but here’s a few shots…

Won't hurt it at all. @Jimmy I love how much you have growing out of your tank! I just have one stem, started as a 12" cutting that I broke off of my mother plant. It's snaking around the wall, only has about another foot to go until it reaches a window. Then I expect it to explode!

glenn anthony
soo just outta curiosity is there a certain type of pothos sub species thats better than the rest. Been wantin try a piece in my HOB, but have not gotten around to buying one yet (even though i pass home depot daily) i know thers the verigated or marble type thats has some white mixed in the green of the leaf, and if im not mistaken a "golden pothos". Want mine to get as big as the one Corey has in his fish room, whoa! talk about little shop of horrors, dont know what hes feeding that giant thanks for any info 🙄
Odd Duck
There are many different species and varieties within species of pothos. Some get very large given the right conditions, some have smaller leaves. The less common varieties can get pricey for a plant the grows like crazy and is easy to make starts from it. Golden pothos is the most common but there are significant differences in the amount of variegation on the leaves, so don’t buy a plant that shows minimal variegation and expect it to get loads of color. I try to mostly send starts that have lots of variegation when I share starts of my golden since that’s most likely to get them off on the right foot. I just got a Neon (no variegation but great, bright green color! I’ve already popped 2 starts into HOB’s on a couple tanks. Pic is of just some of the varieties. Not my pic, downloaded after a search.
TeeJay
Yes I did not know there leaves can grow on the tank as well. I have a few short vines just starting in mine from up top. They have really good root systems so I think once they get established they will do well. Keep up the great work!

If I were to build it again, I'd make sure to measure a minimum of 8 inches / 20.5 centimeters between the _top_ of the aquarium rim, and the _bottom_ of the board above it. I jammed these too close together. Space makes catching fish a lot easier. I'd also elevate the bottom aquarium ca. 6 inches / 15.25 centimeters up off the floor in order to help with draining / siphoning water out. Here is a larger rack I made with a 40 gal top, two 20 gal long beneath. Kind of a strange design, but it works. I made a 6-inch lip around the outside of the tanks to set things on...

Well I would want it for a 20 long on top and the 2 tens in bottom. I think adding the extra height would help between tanks for sure. I need plans and a material list 😊
