This is what the fat shrimp is doing, but I don’t see any eggs.

@TeeJay

She is fanning her eggs so they don't start to mold. It's just hard to see the eggs because she is so blue. Not sure how long she has been berried. It takes up to 30 days before they will hatch and emerge. Then you probably won't see the shrimpletts for a week after they are born. They will hide for about that week until they grow a bit and feel safe to travel out.

That's a tough one. Since all my shrimp are in a shrimp only tank I never gravel vac or have to do water changes. They are very tiny and dang near impossible to see. Maybe in winder open areas of the tank you could be safe but there are no guarantees. I think @Guppysnail would check her water change bucket after siphoning to see if any got sucked out in the process.

Calcium is important as well. You may want to put a wondershell in there. When they start accepting commercial foods you can give them banquet block or crab cuisine.

I have the hardest water known to man 😉 ...and I always make sure there's lots of hardscape in my tanks from my local river. There is one sport however where calcium rich water has dripped down for idk how long and has made a sort of almost pure calcium formation. Might add some of that.

They do need to eat calcium though as part of their diet. Nom nom nom

Shell development

Woodstock is moving in with Snoopy today. The 10g bioload is a bit heavy, as you may have noticed from the photos I’m having a hard time keeping that sand looking nice. And with shrimplets on the way, I may not want to vac as much. Woodstock will be joining York (mom), C3PO (sibling) and the magenta and nerite crew.

1 hour drip. Probably overkill, but I have the time so why not? Plus I did awaken him, so let’s go ahead and ease him into his day.

I love the vibrant colours! 😍

No algae yet on him. Come to think of it, he’s been with shrimp so they’ve probably been cleaning him.

And in case anyone didn’t catch it, that is a photo of Snoopy and Woodstock 🙂

Introducing… the King Koopa nerite snail!
I saw him about 5 days ago in the LFS. Was shocked he wasn’t bought. I couldn’t stop thinking about him.

He has a white foot.

Snoopy is naturally curious.

He sees movement.

Romeo “welcomed” him (?!)

I will try to get another photo later once he starts cleaning the glass. ☺️

He needs a tough name (not Spike.. )

The plan is to put him in the betta tank (under close observation, of course) but it’s not fair to do it right now. There is no algae in there yet.

The names are great!  I can’t decide! 😫

@TeeJay help!  Ask your daughter to pick the name for the King Koopa nerite snail. Here’s the name list.
