J. Holmes
We recently planted this anubias petite and saw this bug today. Any idea what it is? Should we try and get rid of it? How do we do that? I tried to add a video from my phone but it wouldn’t let me. Thanks for the help!
Guppysnail
I can’t identify it but it is most likely harmless most small critters usually end up a yummy snack but provide some benefit to the ecosystem in the mean time. dragonfly nymphs and damselfly nymphs can pose issue for small snails shrimp and fish fry but are in themselves incredibly fascinating As well as waterboatmen. Outside of those just enjoy it as a free pet. You can find many pictures of these three on google. I’m following this in hopes someone with better/younger eyes can identify. I love creepy crawlies and critters.
H.K.Luterman
I can't tell what exactly it is by the photo, but if it looks like a little round white thing and swims around looking like a drunken bumble bee, its a seed shrimp and is completely harmless. They usually show up in planted tanks and are good fish snacks.

It’s like a spider with a round body… strange little guy. They kinda look like Ostracods to me (from what I’ve Googled so far). If that’s it, how do I get rid of those? Edited January 20, 2022 by J. J. Holmes
Thanks for YouTube idea! I hope I did it correctly. We are about to add fish into the tank (we’ve just had mystery snails). We will add the tetras first and then a male betta when he finishes his quarantine. Would those get rid of this bug?
H.K.Luterman
It looks a lot like a seed shrimp to me in the video. Your tetras will most likely gobble it up.
Torrey
You have natural snacks in your aquarium. Some of us spend a lot of time trying to grow successful colonies of live food, congratulations on having the buffet already getting started, lol.
