Fish Folk
I wish I lived close to the Co-Op. But since I don't, I'm going to recommend someone go buy the Peacock Gudgeons and try breeding them. They're a beautiful nano fish. Males develop a tiny hump in the head, and females display girth in the belly once they're developing roe. They're fairly easy to breed. Great species! Good community fish, super colorful... Here's a couple excellent breeding explanation videos:
Colu
I used to see peacock gudgeon in most of my lfs years ago I don't see them any more considering how colourful they are you would think they would be more popular Edited November 25, 2021 by Colu

Patrick_G
I’ve owned one female. It was a fun fish but developed a growth and died suddenly. I’m on the fence for buying more. I sure like the coloration but mine was a bit of a bully.

Dwayne Brown
Anyone know what size of tank they need? Could a pair be kept in a 5 gallon?

At first she was in my community 75 but was way to much of a shrimp hunter so she moved to my three gallon with Sparkling Gourami. The male Gourami was ok with her but she bullied the female to the point that I didn’t see it for months.

I’d personally go with a 10 gal. Fry could hatch and grow out in a 5 gal. 1
