scott the fishman
 HELLO FISH KEEPING FRIENDS🙂 SO this morning i am drinking coffee with BIG AL. when i notice my kitty's tail from behind my aquarium. FIRST thought i had was THIS AIN'T GOOD! the reason i thought that was kitty never shows intrest in my aquarium anymore. at first she did when i started stocking my tank. she would jump on the bed and gaze at all the flavors of fish i had in there. then she soon lost interest. i quickly checked the water level it was fine. Incase it was leaking and she was having a drink .so i got kitty from behind the aquarium and shined my light back there. MY HEART SANK!!! i saw one of my loaches back there. DEAD! I thought to my self HOWWWWW! MY TANK IS TIGHTLY SEALD. then i remembered. yesterday i cleaned out one of my HTB filters and forgot to put the plastic strip back in place leaving about a 3 inch gap in the back of my tank. MY largest loach a zebra loach had jumped out.

Patrick_G
So sorry! I have a frameless and lidless tank in the living room. It’s a year old and I haven’t had any jumpers until this past Sunday when I lost a Rummy Nose Tetra. 😟

KaitieG
This caught my eye because I was just making a new lid for my bow front 5 gallon. I've only lost one other fish (a swordtail) from any other tank--she jumped onto the lid out of the filter gap and fried under the light but that 5 gallon is a super odd shape and I've had trouble sealing it. Had to dump the stock lid 'cause it was black plastic with terrible lights. I'd been using a rectangle lid and seran wrap while my husband kept promising to "make me a lid"... fast forward a year...still using rectangle and seran wrap 🙄, but lost 2 other fish out of it as jumpers. Finally just bought a piece of decent fairly thin plastic, cut it to the right shape and put holes in for my plants and air line myself. I think that will take care of my jumping problems--not the prettiest solution, but better than before. And I should've just done it a long time ago.
sairving
I'm sorry. Its a hard lesson. I lost my previous betta this way. I found him on the floor one night and realized there was a 2 inch gap in the lid to jump through.
