Turtle
Pipe size for a 30 drop system and piston pump.? Can a piston pump survive a garage installation in Florida with 100 Degree temperatures in the summer? "going in room but would like it in the garage". StevesFishTanks
3/4" or 1" I have my pump indoors. They are common for use in septic systems in pretty adverse conditions. I think you will be ok. Edited July 26, 2021 by s1_
Turtle
My concern is heat. It's not uncommon to be in the high 90,s with overnight in the 80,s . If a piston pump gets hot naturally in house how will it do if it's room is already 100 degrees? Has anyone ever tested for this? Is there research ? gardenman
When linear piston air pumps are used for septic systems they're often outside in plastic boxes with screens to let fresh air in. I would assume a plastic box sitting outside in full sun with an operating pump inside would get well over 100 degrees on a regular basis.
Turtle
I will probably buy two pumps and put them together some how and put timers on them. Run a day pump (inside) and a night pump ( in the garage). Open to Options
Rob E.
Cory did a fish room tour of 'Wild fish tanks' a few years ago, where he has his entire fish room in a Florida garage. There might be some mention of how he manages heat. Maybe running a fan pointed at the pump would help? Edit: The fish room tour is called "Check out the lighting in this fish room." It looks like he has insulated panels added to his garage door. Edited July 26, 2021 by Rob E.
