Mmiller2001
Ich X, follow directions for full dosing. Snails are fine. Assume all fish have it.

Ben Ellison
Aquarium salt will work if you dont have live plants. I believe Corey says he uses 1 tablespooon of aquarium salt per gallon to start with then has increased to 2 per gallon. I would slowly add that over the course of a couple hours and increase heat to 85.
HarleyJohnson17
I do have live plants! and I thought you can’t use salt with snails and catfish that’s why I haven’t done that. And my temp is 82 right this min So I’ll work on that thanks for your reply
Ben Ellison
It appears some cats cant have salt and some can handle it so someone with more knowledge might need to weight in.

Ben Ellison
Ich is a slow killer. Normally it kills by draining the fish slowly. It should take a several days to kill a healthy fish. It will take several treatments per the label. It normally takes me about 2 weeks to fully be rid of it.
HarleyJohnson17
Noted! I the catfish have had it since Monday and my blood parrots just got spots today. Ugh so too be sure they’ll make it then! thanks 🤗
Tre
Was curious how this was going.... catfish are scaleless....so sensitive to ich-x. They need a half dose. Most fish are fine with salt. The snails will depend on the type. Nerites are actually brackish or saltwater snails...some species venture into freshwater so it really depends on the snail. ange
I generally don't recommend half dosing anything just because it's a lot more likely that the protozoans will make a resurgence and your fish will be re-infected. Ich is difficult to treat in a display tank because you need to make sure that the free-swimming protozoans die in addition to the organisms attached to the fish, separating affected fish and treating them doesn't really cut it. Irene has made a video on the subject last month. Cory also has a less recent video on the Aquarium Co-Op channel.
HarleyJohnson17
Well I been dozing full dose! The ich appears to be gone, only thing I’m concerned with is my catfish whiskers have gotten short! 😏😏 and idk what to do. How long should I treat??
