Are these pods safe to be used as botanicals
Daviscoast replied to Daviscoast's topic in General Discussion
Thank you so much for you knowledge and input. I was thinking of doing some outdoor ponds as I live in tropical Australia and it is quite warm all year round. -
Hi. I have a poinciana tree in my yard and they drop these magnificent pods I would love to put into my aquarium. Anyone have experience or can find it on the internet cause I have had no luck. Thank you!

Thank you for your input. I will try it and update in a week or so. -
Hi. I live in Australia and have been struggling to locally source botanicals. Today I found seed pods off a paperbark tree and couldn't find a definitive answer through Google. Does anyone know if they are aquarium safe? picture below for reference

i completely destroyed the duckweed population in my 15 gal it literally took hours but it was worth it. also exiting news i got a job at foodworks, I'm 14 and i have had a job since i was 9 and i am basically a qualified baker so i am exited as i am saving for a much more organised and useful fishroom.

Hi. I am 13 years old in Australia and want to write a little fact and guide book for my grandpa as I don't see him often, and has been having trouble with his knee. Him and I don't have a whole lot in common besides he used to breed fish, so because of this I want everything I've learnt about bristlenose plecos to share with him. So please tell me everything your know about Bnp to help me write a book for my Pop.

Hi, today I was looking at my fish tanks and lately I have been a little lazy and been having some burn out. So I looked into my 10 gallon kerri tetra tank to see babies that have grown up. I'm so exited and wanted to share how they are growing and the setup Here is a photo of the babies there are 3 this one is about 5mm long If anyone knows how big of a setup I should breed these guys in let me know

I want to make a rio Negro's biotope but I'm not sure what fish or plants to use. What plants, that are readily available, are native to the Negro's. And what fish are larger in size that can live in a 5 foot aquarium

No I haven't but am curious to make my aquarium identical to a amazon basin

I was planing of having 1 bolivian pair and two German blue pairs. But i was also going to use the tank to let them pair off naturally (getting six of them)

How do you make driftwood for your aquarium using peices you find in nature?
-
I was wondering for a breeding/biotope set-up if you could cohabitation bolivian and German blue rams together. In a 4 foot aquarium
-
The reason I wanted to try this is because I wanted to set up a biotope. With Herman blue rams, bristlenose, corys, tetras and some other sort of chiclid like a angel or discuss. I want it to be all natural and observe the rams claim territory and breed and the Cory eggs being scattered all across the glass with the tetras breeding in the Java moss. It is my dream aquarium and to make it as natural as possible I wanted to experiment with anoxic filtration to expand the overall process of the cycle. Anyone else who wants to do the same?
-
Hi, I was recently going through YouTube and found this interesting topic on a new filter I never heard of that got rid of nitrates almost all together after matururing. The science is proven but is it worth getting one? Also if you don't know what an anoxic filter is, it is basically a low oxygen environment that allows bacteria to strip nitrates if oxegeon and leaves nitrogen which transfers into the air. What are your thoughts?

I recently found that one of the bnp I breed is very dark, almost black. The parents are a albino and a common bnp. Could this be a cool genetic trait or just strange camouflaging. Let me know what u think.
