Somehow I need to come to terms with the image in my my head of @Guppysnail running around with power tools! 🥸

Loving this journal! Thank you so much for sharing all the information, @modified lung! 😍

This little one is growing quite well. I could not get pictures of the others because they went to hide behind the plant roots, which they are eating at a crazy pace! Curious as to whether there will be reversion to wild type from the Apricot parents.

Sad to hear about the losses. 😔
I don't think I would ever risk a tank without a lid after losing Miss Ethel. The tank is looking amazing! 😍

This looks like a great tank, @mountaintoppufferkeeper!
So far the advice you have gotten is good. A couple of comments on the build:
- Sand the edges until really smooth or you’ll get bubbles. I know it feels like too much, but it is well worth it.
- I used WeldOn4 to glue the pieces, and it worked great. Because I am paranoid, I also caulked them with WeldOn40, which worked fine but I would go with a less dense version next time, as it proved hard for me to push through the syringe. Don’t use silicone as it won’t adhere.
- I have done a little sketch for brace placement. You’ll need those in order to prevent bowing since the tank is so long. This would alleviate the pressure from the water, and allow for panel removal.
- Do not heat polish in order to minimize the risk of crazing.
I was very happy with the cast acrylic vendor. The pieces were beautifully cut and they kept to the advertised tolerance.
Feel free to DM me if you have any questions. 🙂

If I had a dollar for every time someone said that about me throughout my life thus far... 💰💰💰
I can start a tip jar for you!
Morning coffee, very foggy, like my brain:
I know there is a city in there somewhere:

The tank is down to three CPD’s, four plus the teenage Lampeye, and the usual snails and Neocaridina inhabitants. Like @Guppysnail I have also grown tired of the CPD bickering, so will not be getting any more. The bully CPD did away with the youngest Lampeye. 🥺
This tank is identical to the one @Biotope Biologist got for his WCMM, so I may move mine in here and give up on the BBA experiment. One less tank should make my husband happy!
The Hygrophila pinnatifida is not looking like it will make it, but was definitely worth trying.

Good luck, indeed! And happy travels!
Also, thanks for the v-sump update! You know at least one sucker will always love those. This guy *points thumbs at self*
Yes, remember you were the instigator! 😆

Made some modifications to the V-Sump in preparation for a four-week absence. All media has been shifted and flow is now going through three layers of felt socks before it hits the sump. 200µ each and hopefully they will not become too much of a NO3 factory that the macros can’t handle.
Fingers crossed! 🥸

I wonderful companion to my morning coffee, @Guppysnail and @laritheloud.
I have only experienced Sparkling gouramis and my little couple is so much fun to watch, but besides their stunning blue eyes, they are pretty subtle and definitely not a tank statement. 🙂
Looking forward to seeing what you decide to go with!

So sorry. Thank you for sharing this awesome experience.
It is Nature at its best, showing the cycle of life. I am prepared for losses like these because the critters have a somewhat short lifespan. The babies were a very sweet surprise, so I welcome the gift. 😍

So am I. The concept of a teenage crab going through the puberty drama should be entertaining!

Last night the tank looked a little dreadful.
Market run to the beach, new clams and macros to liven it up.

Morticia was dead yesterday. It did not take long for the tiny terrorists to consume the evidence, and there was no trace of her body this morning. However, I spotted three more crab babies!
I did turn the mister off so that the hot water does not harm the babies.

i have a couple decent stores near me, but would be nice to have a co-op caliber store nearby.
I know the feeling. Even though in theory I am only about 1.5 hours away, because of the unreliable ferry schedules it can take 3-4 hours which makes it too long for an outing. So, no Summer or weekend visits for me. Once there, it is my happy place! 😍

Catching up with your adventure, @Beardedbillygoat1975!
Wow, moving is always a lot of work. Sorry about the losses and good luck with the new place. As @Guppysnail stated, 2.0 looks like it is going to be awesome!
Welcome to the neighborhood! Please let us know if there is anything we can help with. 🙂

@eatyourpeas Does your Pea Puffer eat them?
I wish! He comes up to them and is very curious, but does not know what to do with them. I swear the planaria do the Can-Can in front of him as entertainment! 🤣

I'm in northeast IN and would like to know if anyone has done this? What are the good, bad and don't do it. I'm just getting everything started, so I'll add pics as I get the stand built. I know I got a great deal on the tank, $40.00 for 48x21x12. I think is 50 or 55 gal. It dose not leak.
You may want to find out what the rules for collecting are in your area. I am in the PNW and refer to the state's DNR website for that information. They also let you know about invasive species.

He is pretty cool, and not camera shy at all!
