Just caught up with this journal. The tank is looking amazing! 😍

I lost a WCMM to said mesh. I think she was being chased by the boy for mating purposes and got caught in it. I repositioned it so that edges are against the glass or a safe surface. I think removing the moss would be the best idea, but then it makes the cost of the piece absurd for the little moss that comes with it.
It is a good idea if you are using it as a moss farm where you can harvest it and move it to other tanks.

My AR did pretty well in my tank at ~76-77F, then melted in my summer tub. Is it a plant that’s known to prefer cooler temps?
Mine is not surviving the heat either. 🤨

I am putting more air bubbles in the tank, and it has made a huge difference, for the better. O2 is definitely a good thing for these critters, especially at night when it feeds the macros.
This “not so little” isopod was looking for breakfast in the weeds. He has grown quite a bit, measuring 1.25” and still cute as a Tardigram.
Counted 27 aggregate anemones this morning, still no sign of the Flerken kids.

Morning coffee watching the Bay gobies play. The red macros on the left side of the tank are getting nice and dense.

now I have a guppy tank overrun by tiny terrorists
I can relate. The pea puffers went through that, and they let me know it was not a good idea on my part. 🐡

Find an lfs outlet before you start.
Living on an island makes that a bit difficult. My LFS will not take them. 🤨

Because it is my nature to try to learn new things, I started looking into guppies.
Guppies terrify me, simply put. They reproduce at alarming rates, even faster than “tiny terrorists”, and the thought of a new tank is in itself a big project.
On one hand, I am investigating the option of breeding them as food for my SW tank critters. On the other hand, I am questioning whether I would be able to take the cute little fish and watch them get gobbled by the likes of Ursula Flerken.
Us Italians always complicate things as much as possible.
English: Guppy
Spanish: Guppy
Portuguese: Guppy
Italian: pesciolino delle Barbados
See?
So, does anyone purposely breed guppies as food? Am I a crazy monster for even thinking of it?

Congrats! Are you going to pull it or leave it in with the parents?
From what I have read, they should have a better survival rate if removed. I am going to leave them in because I never intended for them to breed.

Neither did I! 🙃

it figures, you got it, but not where you wanted.😜
Indeed! But I am flexible and can now make it the right place. I am seriously considering having most of my tanks be algae tanks. Big mind shift, but I am open to adventure. 😎

It is indeed curious how it never occurred to me that temperature could be a factor. Now, of course that means they may all die as soon we go to our usual temperatures because we like our house on the cooler side, around 64F in the winter.

Baby! Baby! Baby!!!
Almost missed him while doing a WC. He is so itty-bitty! Maybe 4mm body. Ohhhh, Gomez has been busy!

Success! I now have a nice batch of BBA growing, but in the wrong tank! 🤪
I will rearrange things and make it work. It took off during the really high temperatures, so maybe that was a factor since I was trying to grow it with the WCMM and that tank was at 60F. My other tanks stay at 74F except this past two weeks when the tank water soared to 82F

Couldn’t agree more. I love my LBF (as @Biotope Biologist calls them - Little Brown Fish) and their quirky personalities!

Depending on where you are, Anacharis (Elodea densa) may be a good plant choice. They grow roots whether they are in the substrate or not. It is not a legal plant where I am, but I know it can be had in other parts of the world.
That is really cool fish! 😎

I hope you love your new snail. They are so different then other critters. Mystery snails are definitely the class clowns of the snail world 🤗🥰
I do! And he/she now has a name: Mambo! Inspired by the swaying of the tentacles when gliding around... 🐌
Elmer did a very nice detailing job on the shell, now shiny and clean!
Also, I found this interesting article:

I have come to the conclusion snails have individual personalities just like humans. 4 of the white wizards and 1 of the Viviparus viviparus snails simply refuse to leave the food bowl. I moved them last week and they beelined back. I removed the food last night so today they are all over the tank earning their keep. The other 2 VV and 3 WW would come munch a moment then go about their day. So some are industrious janitors and others lazy gluttons. 🤪
I am about to find out what I have. Just came home from LFS with a Jade Mystery snail. Quite spunky from what I can tell, but still in the bag going through acclimation. Iji killed the remaining Pygmy corydoras and Elmer is wondering what the heck is going on. The Neocaridina are unfazed, of course. Thank you for turning the Mystery snail interest knob to full speed! 😍

@PineSongThey say the only reason to grow zucchini in Ithaca is to keep you friends from giving it to you. I am beginning to think guppies are the zucchini of the fish hobby world.
And that is why guppies and zucchini terrify me!

Ahh, I wish I had seen this sooner! Thanks for the link! It is good to know I am doing it the correct way according to Tanner! I have not broken a glass, yet. It has scratches and I am just tempted to replace it since I am taking it all out anyway.
I have crazy ideas for scaping it!

yeah some amazing "game" fish its true but your right large complicated setups, but there must be smaller fish to fill in the environmental niches, i was thinking about keeping one of these when i was in new zeland

ps what does NANF stand for? That is a great looking goby!
NANF: North American Native Fish 🙂
I am currently devouring Amazonas Magazine featuring Hawaiian gobies and WCMM species, and all the cool fish I could never have, like Channa.

Hi Roy! 😎
This heat is definitely testing everyone’s idea of balance. I was so grateful for the mini deluge on Wednesday! Waiting to see how everything changes once normal temps are back.
