  1. Hi there, I’m having a few issues with my plants. Tank is set up for a few months now and maybe it’s still not quite balanced. My crypt and Java ferns are both struggling. Java is browning and melting and the crypt is getting more and more brown too. any suggestions would be awesome.
  2. Yup, sigh. We just moved house a few weeks ago. I was just saying how smooth it was and no one one got sick. Time to get out the meds I guess. Thanks!
  3. Hi everyone! I was taking some Macro photos of my tank. There’s tiny white spots on my ember tetras. Is this ick? thanks in advance
  4. Are there Hillstream loaches left? And do you have otos? I’m hoping to stop by this morning to get some.
  5. @Jennifer V nope this tank was basically set up brand new including the filter. I’m seeing bacteria on the glass too so it’s definitely starting to come together now.
  6. Hi everyone! I set up a new planted tank about 5 days ago and now there are some of these white strings on the wood and plants. Picture attached. I’m thinking it’s some sort of algae or bacteria. Any idea what this is? And if it’s a problem? it’s likely fine and will take care of itself. I’m doing regular water changes. My amonia and nitrites are 0, nitrates between 10-20, ph is 7.2, and temperature at 74. Dose with easy green. thank you!
  7. @Dwayne Brown Interesting. I’ve got crypts, anubias, and java fern. Might be worth a shot. I’ll give it a try. As for the anchor worm itself. I can see the white strings but no protrusion from the skin. Is it sufficient to just pull the white strings? (also, thank you so much for all your help. I’ve kept smaller fish before but ever goldies)
  8. @Dwayne Brownissue is that it’s a planted tank so I can’t salt the whole tank. If one fish has it is it likely the other does too? I do have a 6 gallon I could use temporarily to dose salt. But it would be small.
  9. @Colu doing the Saltwater bath today. 1 tbsp/ 2 gallons, how long would you suggest I leave the fish in that? I was thinking 20 minutes since it's just a large bucket, but I can do longer/shorter as needed.
  10. @Dwayne Brown I fear anchor worms too. I don't actively see them though. Should I wait until they're visible?
  11. @Colu the white spots are actually particulates in the water rather than on the fish. I just changed some water and kicked up some bits. But I did spot something white and fluffy on its wen. I’ll treat for ich using ich X. Salt will have to be salt baths rather than the tank itself because of the plants in the tank. But I’ll try those two options and hope for the best.
  12. Hi all, I just got two new orandas two days ago. One of them has small holes at the base of the dorsal fin, and two tiny white threads coming from the dorsal fin. Its possible I received it this way or that it developed over the last two days. It was hard to take a good picture but I attached what I could get. I looked for anchor worm but can’t see any abnormalities indicating it visually. Is this something concerning? If so what I should try? They’re in a 55g. No amonia, 20 nitrate, no nitrite, ph 7.2, temp 74. Any advice is welcome!
  13. Hi, I have two orandas and saw Corys recent video about goldfish tank mates. I would like to add my bristlenose to that tank. The tank is unheated and at room temperature, so about 67 degrees. Will that work for the pleco? Seems cold to me. Has anyone done this safely? What has your experience with this been? my tank has lots of hiding spots too. Thanks
