Can I sterilize fish tank equipment with really hot water?

Why do plants turn a gooey brown? Do they revive over time?

How can I get my plants to grow more and melt less? I am dosing fertilizers and the tank has been established for a while but the plants still seem to lose a lot of leaves and melt what should I do?

I want to buffer my water with crushed coral does it matter what type? I was just thinking of using Top Fins marine crushed coral. Also it’s a freshwater tank.

So far I haven’t noticed that my pH in my tank fluctuates much do you think I should still add a buffer like SeaChem Equilibrium?

I am keeping three platies three Cory cats a beta fish and 2 nerite snails they seem to be healthy they are eating my betta does glass surf a lot and the platies will sometimes swim frantically and act strange but I think it is because recently I had to treat with irythromycin and it killed my cycle I am still pretty new so I don’t have a quarantine tank yet but besides that they seem healthy and the sick fish is acting well again. I will let my tapwater age for a day and then test it but I have tested my tank water pH for like three days now and I haven’t seen any big fluctuations. Also my cycle is pretty much established again.

My tapwater has a GH a 5.6 dh my tank water has a GH of 5.6 dh my tap water has a KH of 2.4 dh my tank water has a KH of 2.4 dh my tap has a ph of 8.2 my tank has a ph of 7.4 maybe a little lower why is this? I do have driftwood and catappa bark is that why? Also should I add a mineral supplement for my low KH?

I already did erythromycin and I don’t want to do salt because I have all live plants

I need help I just got done giving my fish erythromycin and he is swimming around and eating and he’s doing good which is great! But he still sometimes goes to the bottom of the tank and clamps is fins and still has clear stringy poop what should I do? Also right now I am finishing by treating with Mela fix.

There’s also a betta and live plants so they would be sensitive to that

Please help my platies have clamped fins one is always staying at the surface they were fine before and I just noticed this today.

Also what about people saying that the tank is too small for them?

Yeah they’re all getting along fine All minding their own business and swimming around freely so I just don’t know whether I have to get rid of them or not

I test my water every two days and always make sure I am doing good maintenance ( cleaning out the dead leaf debris wiping off diatom algae doing water changes every week adding seachem prime and adding bacteria but not too much cleaning to the point where I get rid of beneficial bacteria) I have two good-sized pieces of driftwood in there and TONS of live plants and a bunch of hiding places. I just don’t know what to do they’re getting along fine and everybody’s telling me that I need to take the platies out and the cat fish can’t be in there because it’s ten gallons and they’re all schooling fish and the people at my local fish store said it would be fine so I just don’t know what to do.

Deer aquarium co-op I have a 10 gallon aquarium with one beta fish we added three red Platies three albino Cory catfish and two nerite snails and then I got slammed by the Internet and everybody was saying how that was too much and overstocked and I need to upgrade my aquarium so I don’t know what to do what do you guys think I should do? because I want to be able to have a community tank. Should I get different fish? are there other options to deal with this? I have no idea please help.
