Snails with Bettas

Would it be a good idea to put a snail with a betta? I plan on setting up a 5-10 gallon planted tank for a betta and was wondering if an apple snail would be a good idea because I have a few? Does it depend on the betta's personality or is it black and white on whether it'll work? And would there be a specific way that I should introduce them or does it not matter?

It definitely depends on the personality of the betta. I have 1 that doesn't bother them at all, and 1 that kills anything that moves, including all types of snails. If you are going to try it, you can introduce the betta last and keep a close eye on how it reacts.

I have a Nerite snail with my Plakat and he doesn't bother the snail at all.  I also have an Amano Shirmp, a Lemon Blueyed BN and 4 Harlequin Rasboras in a 14 gallon cube.  Everyone gets along.  At first the Betta was eyeing up the pleco and the shrimp, but there weren't any issues.
