WhiteShadow
I am wondering if the canister filters that are sold on ebay are any good? They seem just like unbranded filters that would be sold for alot more once the final name gets stamped on it. Has Corey ever done a review of these types? For example: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Aquarium-Canister-Filter-3-Stage-265-GPH-FREE-MEDIA-Up-to-75-Gal-Fish-Tank/264044944425?_trkparms=ispr%3D1&hash=item3d7a4e1c29:g:sFEAAOSw2ihf~RYO&amdata=enc%3AAQAFAAACcBaobrjLl8XobRIiIML1V4Imu%252Fn%252BzU5L90Z278x5ickkXKoKcbeZcOrOku%252BoOBl%252BSyFiCz%252Bk3x4hHuqW2SxjOWNw4QY%252BFRR6MlchXpvC7LXhJ%252BUWwai5WsXJMcIWm7NTeAr6YuygSxepqF1cWOGroNeFoomcRTXRvQus4RPvCgM9oZD3mz5ugoRJhbnhPYpv4n1uFAf5mY1xl0o0aJUOUrMJbzPSVMKeBpIX1pzALKLZlmtYX%252BaWjTpYdDYlzs5dLnqLTwUl3pmS2SNpxNZWQpolXknu5jrrdcrVq1IDoye2MeAnJV51UhoG0WkoxJp6gzzMFhHcTZ6wbGgKOisYSM95s%252FqU71b2xF3Gs5RuJJ3mdyN%252BGXINiYm4EepsekuJWhITjlqHufYvE8UhaP9vtW3KqnaVDebHtlCaRQ9qXPeX6AB0ayjtgj1EPCcVEEdliBXhUWKxKTtgsr%252BL8ZTYZLmk0lwt1adeDl0IsHZqG1mlbZnCIYId8I5rgOP0Fdz2W9EWv5LBuZO7FRgoWjSd7amSZUI%252B3kyfxDqHEzA0b79aQNwuNm7ZTNQWHpk8Ryc7sTd%252Ft%252FW8VSxDjdQejoxTzMTEiRIo4hLOQ05igH4tlvm2487wF5dbWeb0ro5LOEFcazwsgWWfyLOjJMa8uFP2nn9j0ieIgubgKJEfFf3w5g%252B9a2tTYTBUPZY8F2dz%252FCujv1zwQ1wbtWr2OyB%252B8Ow2t0sm6f96VoF81lThOR9WRQwNZCVQPmTtDE9uKAFoyJLq6dL57hQCPTdh5N4LGW6eQ4kpc0mjBZi1aiiKBugWEIyYsBOG4FW8bEsorFwKFM5VWA%253D%253D%7Ccksum%3A264044944425c3bf2ff4a8404d3185d258c47cb8246d%7Campid%3APL_CLK%7Cclp%3A2334524
gardenman
Most of those filters appear to be made from the molds/production line that Marineland used a few years back. They're sold under a gazillion names, but they look like the older Marineland canister filters in nearly every respect. This happens sometimes with overseas manufacturers. Companies will hire a manufacturer to make their product, but then when the number ordered is produced, the manufacturer will continue to churn them out and sell them to other suppliers under different names. Many of those who've bought those filters rave about them. I don't use one, but I've considered it in the past.

They are offered in a 265, 375, and 525 GPH units and with or without 9V UV bulbs. Inclusion of media is another option. It pays to read the reviews off Amazon, as the SunSuns have thousands of reviews. I have purchased 2 of the Polar Aurora (525 GPH with UV) and have been happy with them. They are relatively quiet, easy to maintain, and have cheap replacement parts (bought an impeller and UV bulbs). I would also suggest buying a food grade silicone oring grease to apply to the gaskets. Edited February 17, 2021 by Bruce Leroi
Tamberav
Don't have any idea about this; but mine was from a local shop. I'm a fanboy of this Fluval when it comes to canister filters. Have you considered the 106 or 206?"
StevesFishTanks
The only canisters I use are fluval fx series.

I get that there is a big difference in price. Will it work yes. For how long? Probably at least 6 months, but I know people have had them for a couple years now. @Bruce Leroiis 100% about the silicone grease and do it often if you get it. I personally don’t like the canisters. I have one, but I have sponge filters, hob, and undergravel. For me I’m not old but old school I would go 1. Undergravel 2. sump 3.Hob 4.Sponge 5.canister 6. I have not tried a marten filter yet, I have add 15ppi on top of my UGF grates and liked. you will never use to I love mine. It’s about what works best for you. That can be. Money purpose of use, to looks( I like canisters because you can hide al most all the parts, if you are good you can add a sponge to the intake and made it look like part of the tank),what ever else is going on. There are better canisters are they $200+ better that’s up to you. Cory does ave a video on true I charging HOB’s as well
