Nacskins
Just wanted to share how I “upgraded” my sponge filter. I love Cory’s sponge filters and wish I would have discovered them sooner. I also like the ability of the finer sponge to help clear the water even if it’s only and little and for a short time. This is in my daughters 10 gal betta tank. Edited October 1, 2020 by Nacskins

Nacskins
Humm not sure what happened to the pic, here is another pic in the left, took one small fine and put on top of one small corse. add bio rings to air line tubing.
Ben_RF
I am thinking the ceramic bio media you have there will be impacting the form of the bubbles. @Cory actually did a recent video on how to optimize and clean a sponge filter. The video for that can be found here:

Mr. Ed's Aquatics
4 hours ago, Nacskins said: yup seen it and i agree its possible. Since the air stone is close to the top, I would think you could put it inside below the air stone. The up tube would be clear, the bubbles would cause water flow, and the bio media would get water passing it that was filtered by the sponge. I'm going to try that on one of mine to see if it helps or not.
Nacskins
Uplift tube is cut in half to help with flow and keep bubbles from going out the top of the sponge. I’m happy with how it works.
