FrozenFins
Most fish will eat there fry the first few times they breed, they will learn to be good parents (well, most do.) All though if you want maximum survival rate pull the eggs. If you need some tips on breeding rams @Fish Folk can help youu out more then i. Heres a thread that may help as well:

Honestly . . . it's a sort of pipe dream we have of getting to watch that. Ours either eat their eggs, or eat their fry. After dozens and dozens of failures, we've just resolved that if we want fry, we'll have to do it ourselves. Rams are easily startled. So, one thing to do is make sure that they're in a very low traffic area. When lights go on and off, it spooks them and they crash their fry. Some breeders turn timers off and leave lights on all day and night for awhile -- works with angelfish. Some breeders put coverings around all sides of the tank Rams breed in to keep them from getting startled.
Ram man
I've been breeding rams for about 3 years now and have learned that it usually takes 1-2 spawns for them to not eat the eggs or fry. I've also learned that they usually only take care of their fry for about 2 weeks. Hope this helps.
