Alec 0
Not sure if anyone will know, but I have a Salt water tank that keeps collecting Salt deposits on the top of my lid towards the back where the opening is. Anyone know why?
Pakal 5
According to thesprucepets.com, it says, "Salt creep occurs when the water in a saltwater aquarium splashes out of the tank, gets things wet, and after the fresh portion of the water evaporates, leaves behind salt crystals" So it's basically nothing to worry about. But, it'd still be better to just simply clean/wipe it off. Edited January 13 by Pakal
Andy's Fish Den 435
Yep, salt creep as its known. Wipe it off, it can get bad if you don't keep up with it. I have seen saltwater tanks that the entire backside is coated with salt crystals, it can get especially bad if you have a sump with a protein skimmer.
