5280FishKeeper
I'm new to the fish-keeping hobby and got my first aquarium set-up, cycled, and it's going great. I recently added a couple of stem plants (Alternanthera Reineeckii and Lobelia Cardinalis). I'm adding a Dwarf Sagittaria and Jungle Vallisneria. I'm looking for the best light to use for a 10-gal tall tank.
Administrators Lizzie Block Posted December 15, 2020 Administrators Share Posted December 15, 2020 Rim? no rim? Fluval is usually my preference and would be great for a taller tank. They're very bright for your chosen plants and super easy to program. The Fluval 3.0 comes in a nano version too which is awesome. 🙂 https://www.aquariumcoop.com/collections/lights/products/fluval-plant-3-0-led-nano
5280FishKeeper
Rim with hood. 🙂
StephenP2003
Just some anecdotal experience, but I would consider raising the light up a few inches off the top to maximize light spread, particularly for stem plants so you can ensure the lower leaves get some light. EDIT: just noticed you said rim with hood, so my above advice may not be feasible. Edited December 15, 2020 by StephenP2003

Streetwise
You can enjoy growing plants in all sorts of tanks, but not everything will fit when fully grown. @AtomCatMatt is right about about Jungle Vallisneria, and you could say the same about Amazon Sword. I also avoid stem plants in most of my tanks, because I don't have time to trim and replant.
