I generally find that running my hand around the filter to scare the shrimp off works. Then just use the fish bag method Cory talks about. Someone may have a better answer but that's what works for me. You could also dip the sponge in a container of tank water after removal if you are worried that shrimlets are still in there. Then proceed to your normal cleaning routine. I hope that helps.

Put it in a ziplock bag first right ?

For my pico tanks, I frequently have to remove duckweed, which is a biofilm buffet for shrimp and snails. Combs and hair picks are great for duckweed removal, with a bit of a shake to try to get bladder snails and shrimp fry to let go. I still put anything I pull into a clear bucket to check for fry.

Wow, that comb trick sounds awesome!

I always struggle getting the last bit of duckweed out of the tank

If you're going to use the bag trick to keep funk water from clouding the tank then I would do it after chasing the shrimp off and before pulling it out of the tank.

Ok awesome I’ll do that 🙂 yeah don’t want to bring any shrimp with me want them to stay safe in that tank 🙂 also got a aquaclear20  and have a medium pre filter I got from aquarium Co op it should fit in it right or do I have to get the Elbow
