Is it safe to feed redworms for fishing?

I plan on getting ropefish and I want to feed them redworms, but I want them to be from a safe and readily available source.

Are redworms sold as tackle safe for fish?

My only thought about fishing worms is just: what have they been feeding on? If they can be put in an environment where you can ensure they're healthy, and won't adversely affect your fish, maybe that would be an excellent way to go.

Personally, I think that frozen foods are the best staple choice for picky eaters. Nearly everything that supposedly "only eats live food" can be converted over to frozen foods.

If you are talking the red wrigglers, there are a lot of people culture them to feed fish. There are several videos on YouTube about raising them and feeding to your fish.

Feed them regularly to my Mekong River Puffers - Pao Palustris.

I have also started a worm farm as well - beats paying $5/2 dozen. Took a month or so before I started seeing wormlets.

I feed my axolotl the red wrigglers you can pick up at Walmart or any bait shop. I've given teeny tiny ones to my fish with no issues. I second @Procrypsis , if you want to start using them, start up a worm farm, it's really easy to do! Be sure to rinse them VERY well before giving them to any of your fishies.

Yes. Bait worms are fine. I’ve used them. Just be aware bait worms are not aquatic. They will eventually drown and if not eaten foul the water. I do rinse the dirt off them before feeding or cut them up in tiny bite sizes for smaller fish.
