Jacob Hill-Legion Aquatics
What’s a small live bearer I could breed in my 10 gallon but would also do fine outdoors in my 100 gallon pond in the summer?

Patrick_G
I’ve just done Guppies and had great luck. They breed like crazy in an outside pond, and there are some that look spectacular from above.

Would the guppies over populate too quickly in a small tank?

Yeah, if the 10 gal is going to be their ongoing winter home then Endlers might be a better choice. You can fit a lot more in a 10 gallon.
mynameisnobody
Ricefish are amazing and temps don’t matter as much as other species. The only issue is 10 gallon will be too small to keep them in. Depending where you are, you can leave them in the pond over the winter. I realize these aren’t livebearers but they will reproduce and you will see fry.

I put about 15-20 in a 10 gallon. I gave away about 100 and still have 50+. They start slow but as the baby girls grow then their baby girls grow it becomes exponential. I love them. Each girl bears 1 fry at a time. Edited January 21, 2023 by Guppysnail 1
