wyterabbit
I recently setup a new tank that I was given and I just noticed that there seems to be some kind of white/yellowish mold on the silicone. The tank is brand new and has no fish. Just some aqua soil and some new plants. I can easily scrape it off the silicone but I am worried it may be contaminated and will harm fish when I decide to add them. Has anyone ever seen this before? nabokovfan87
If you can, drain the tank slightly and take photos without distortion of what you're seeing. I would suggest reaching out to the manufacturer of the tank, even out of warranty. They may have a product issue or recall notes or something for a specific batch of adhesive that is relevant. I would also ask if the tank had ever been resealed. If I squint real hard, I would say it's a marineland tank with nerite snail eggs. But, I can't say that with any sort of confidence. wyterabbit
Here is a better photo with the water drained. The tank is actually a fluvial flex (9 gallon). No snails or other animals which is what is confusing me. Only a few plants I picked up from my LFS. I will try and contact fluvial and see if it's a bad batch of tanks or something
xXInkedPhoenixX
Weird! Definitely contact them! That's not normal (I have a Flex9). Let us know what they say!
DaveO
I have seen this before, only it was in a petri dish. Definitely looks like fungus to me. I would wipe it out with hydrogen peroxide and see if that kills it.
