this is how i clean the lids of my tanks. the plecos etc clean the outside and then i rinse the inside of the corrugated plastic with a jet spray in the sink. works well.

for mineral deposits, i use the "barkeepers friend "powder to clean glass. it removes everything and makes the glass look new.

I've heard some nerite snails like to eat mineral deposits, but I haven't kept one yet
