  1. I would just move them. Neon tetras are known for nipping betta's fins. If you want another tank mate for him, consider endlers. I have seven of them in my betta tank and they school together, but don't bother my betta. They even clean the algae off my tank decor which surprised me to learn. A pleasant surprise though.
  2. @TerenceWw Well, I've never used CO2 before! I only use easy green and it seems to work pretty well. As far as adding fertilizer, I usually add 2 drops per gallon, two times a week.
  3. @TerenceWw Most of your plants should spring back. They don't look too far gone just yet.
  4. Have you tried putting easy green in your tank? That stuff has changed my plant game. I used to have mine die as well.
  5. I haven't been able to create a scape as beautiful as this one, but here is mine so far 🙂
  6. @Nik_n That's an excellent idea! I'll be sure to refer that video to them.
  7. In your opinion, what are some of the best tank mates for a Betta tank? I'm asking for a friend, because I already have endlers.
  8. @TheSwissAquarist I'll be sure to remember that...I seem to remember my grandfather telling me about a raw cob of corn soaked in a bucket of water.
  9. @TheSwissAquarist This made me laugh 😂 Sadly, there aren't snowballs in Florida. I guess I'll have to settle for sand and shells.
  10. My favorite thing about the hobby is getting to see a little betta in a small cup become happier, brighter, and more colorful within just a few months. I love watching his personality unfurl and see his greetings each time I approach the tank. I love the sound of the water and the calm it brings when I do some maintenance. There's really nothing to dislike right now!
  11. This is most likely columnaris. Deadly unless you can treat him in time! Get him into a quarantine tank with salt and other chemicals to treat infections!
  12. Personally, I don't think you need the wondershell. My aquarium water has been soft and I don't add anything extra to it. If your tank is doing just fine I wouldn't mess with it! I would recommend a nerite snail. I've had those for the past two years and the are my favorite snail! Super hardy and clean the tank really well.
  13. Fink and Nebula are BEAUTIFUL! I've always had Betta males, but at some point I think having a female would be neat!
  14. @Traumfahrer I've never treated dropsy, sorry! I just use it to prevent general disease.
  15. I've always used aquarium salt. I usually try to keep a little in my tank water to ward off infection and it seems to do the trick!
  16. Looks good to me! I just now made a post about looking for different things to feed my betta. This is actually helpful for that!
  17. Does anyone know of some nice and beneficial treats I can give my betta, William? I feed him bloodworms and he LOVES them. But I was wondering if there was anything else he might really like?
  18. No, is there a reason? I highly doubt a ten year old would be on here honestly.
  19. @Stef They are beautiful!!! Actually, I just started a Facebook group called the Betta Fish Forum. I created the group as a place for other Betta fish parents ( newbies, intermediates, and pros ) to post and share pictures/updates of their betta, share any gained experience, ask questions, learn, and connect with other Betta lovers. Would you like to join?
  20. I know personally I could go weeks without a water change and the nitrates would be low. However, I just added eight little fish to my aquarium and about five days later the nitrates were pretty high. It might be the amount of smaller fish you have. You could try removing some of them into another tank if you have one. Also, do you have any water spangles in your tank? These floating aquarium plants absorb nitrates from your water. A reason the algae might be growing is that you just don't have enough snails/ fish to keep it in check. I have a nerite snail and about 10 endlers in my tank and surprisingly, they eat algae and constantly clean off my decor and live plants. I rarely ever have to clean my tank glass. Do you think you might be overdosing the easy green? I added a little more than usual one week and more algae seemed to appear. Could also be the root tabs. I don't use those, so maybe the mix of tabs and easy green encouraged algae growth. Hope this was somewhat helpful! 😅
  21. @Stef Thank you! His name is William and he is my pride and joy. ☺️ Do you have a betta?
  22. @jwcarlson You would seriously mail me some?? I would absolutely love some dwarf water lettuce!! 😆
