Dandroid
I rescaped a 10 gallon tank recently and I am needing some stocking ideas for cleaning crew. It currently houses 5 neon tetras, 1 mystery snail,1 nerite snail and a betta.
Cinnebuns
By clean up crew do you mean for extra food? Algae? Because tbh the nerite snail is the best thing you can get for algae and the mystery snail is great for extra food. You could maybe add another nerite or 2 if you wanted. They are pretty small and have a small bioload.
Dandroid
Thanks for the input. I wasn't sure if those 2 snails would be enough. I just wanted to make sure. The tank used to be at my parents house and it got a lot of algae. Because I was not always there to keep up the maintenance.

Dandroid
Thanks. Will amano shrimp eat the plants?

They won’t eat healthy plants but may pick at microflora and micro fauna on rotting leaves. They will not harm plants at all, in my experience. anitstuk
If you wanted something to clean up extra food, you could try Kuhli Loaches or Corydoras. If you wanted something to clean up extra food and algae, try Cherry or Amano Shrimp. I will say that Amano Shrimp are more affective against algae compared to Cherry Shrimp but I think Cherry Shrimp look nicer. Also, Nerite Snails are probably the best type of snail against all types of algae. They get rid of spot algae which is SUPER difficult to get rid of so yeah, they are good. Cherry Shrimp are the same but they don't eat live plants. Hope this helps!

I never realised that they eat snails. I just Googled it and apparently they do! Luckily I don't have them in the same tank.

My Kuhlis don’t bother anything that size but I’ve got no ramshorns left in their tank and I suspect they may be eating any babies. I remove the adults from that tank if I spot them, but haven’t removed an adult in several months.
