  1. Poor Murphy, we will all miss him
  2. Hello everyone, haven't used the forum in a long time but I need some help. I've left my aquarium to my dad to manage for about 2 months now and I've checked in every now and again to see how its going. Today when I checked, one my my Harlequin Rasboras's looks like it's suffering from popeye and it's also missing a tailfin. It's staying with the group but struggling to swim. Any ideas on how to help it get back to health?
  3. Yeah I agree, the size comparison makes more sense
  4. Will Kuhli Loaches eat snails too? I know that some other loaches eat snails but I haven't heard much about the Kuhli Loach. I wouldn't mind if they ate the pest snails, but they better stay away from my mystery snail. Okay, so I might try stay away from the Otos then. What about any other substitutes? I know that earlier you mentioned Borneo Suckers but do you think that they would be too big? I've got quite a lot of plants in there and I'm worried that the Borneo sucker could potentially uproot them. Unless I'm wrong? I'm not 100% sure. I'm trying to piece together what type I have.. All I remember about the snails are that their shells going in a swirly circle and the shell is quite clear. I can try to get a picture when I get home though.
  5. There's a lot of options when it comes to bottom feeders. My dad was suggesting Otos maybe?
  6. oh wow, I never knew that, I'll make sure to scrap option 2 then Well, I don't want to overstock my tank so what I'm thinking will go in the tank are - 7 Harlequin Rasboras (moving them from another tank) - Golden Mystery Snail (also moving them from another tank) - Maybe around 10 Cherry Shrimp - Uninvited Snails 🙄 -Some sort of bottom feeder. (I'm trying to steer away from corys just incase they uproot the plants) I'm open to other suggestions too
  7. Do you think that if I did go with option 1, they would steal the food from the shrimp and Mystery Snail? There isn't much algae in the tank. I do have some algae blocks if needed however.
  8. Hello everyone! I'm in the final stages of getting my new 10 gallon tank set up but I've ran into a problem. I've seen several 'pest' snails on the rocks and walls. I've got a few options I believe. Option 1: I Keep the pest snails and they can live alongside my Golden Mystery Snail and Cherry Shrimp (maybe also a Nerite Snail soon?) Option 2: I try my best to capture as many as possible and get rid of them. this means either throwing them out in the bin or in my garden. Option 3: I put them in a 2.5 gallon tank that I have which is completely covered in hair algae and see if they can try get rid of it. What should I do with them?
  9. I like the looks of the RainbowFish the most but if I were to keep a species as a schooling fish, it would probably be the Black Neons.. Also depends on your tank size.
  10. I'm also thinking about getting some peacock gudgeons in the near future from an experienced friend of mine and he recommended a 20 gal long. I think they like the bottom more so a bigger bottom and lots of plants should be pretty comfortable for them.
  11. Okay so I might advice her to get something else than an active substrate like gravel or a dirted bottom like you adviced. As log as she can stay away from the fruity pebble substrate then I'm happy XD. I'll also tell her all about sponge filters. Should be good just in case she gets a beginner fish like a Betta or something like that. I should also be able to give her some of my Java Fern and Water lettuce since I have an abundance of those. Hopefully I can check in every now and then to see that she's not doing anything stupid.
  12. Hello Everyone! My little cousin came to my house the other day and saw my two aquariums. She decided that she wanted something similar so she bought a ten gallon long with the intentions of making it look like a jungle. What should she buy? I already told her to buy some Fluval Stratum and everything needed to cycle the tank.. What else does she need?
  13. I'm having similar algae problems myself. Hopefully some extra algae eaters that I'll introduce should help.
