Documented Mekong Puffer F1 Spawning yesterday

My 9 month old F1 palustris decided they were old enough to start spawning yesterday. I utilized my wyze cam to record the full process once I noticed the breedimg patterns on both fish. I affectionately call it the "puffer cam". This is just the last minute of it all. The color change on the female and behavioral change on both fish is kind of interesting to see in real time. Not quite like seeing it in person but a close second to share with everyone interested.

Fantastic! Thanks for sharing. You are definitely seeing a rare sight in person up on the old Mtn Top.

This happened a little earlier than expected. I had guessed 12-18 months before they started up. Should be a good project to fully document their life cycle from hatching to eventually making F2 fry.

Not yet but i am still growing the 4 new ones for a bit of a super colony. Based on the behavior of the smoother faced baileyi im confident I have a mixed group. Id say its a matter of time and an inch or two of growth until they happen.
