Pretty sure my box filter shananagins are over. My angel fish and a guppies fins look horrible, lost a honey Gourami from a swim bladder problem. Terrible plant growth, and algae up the wazoo. Time to go back to my fluval 307 and see how increased turnover (8x per hour) affects things. I might even upgrade to a 407 (10x per hour). Just cause I can justify it to others! 🤣

Fyi, the orange guppy is the same guppy.

And for transparency today I also did a deep gravel vac on the back 1/4 of the tank.

Getting there little by little, played with arranging today. Glued some neglected baby buce to rocks. Scrapped the Christmas moss mat from the back wall. Hoping to create a chaotic/natural Dutch themed aquascape that will make @Mmiller2001 proud!

Google rule of thirds and then look it over again.

Very helpful, thank you!  Tonights progress wasn't necessarily trying for a scape, mostly just moving things to where i thought ideas might work and tidying my tank up. The rules give me more clarity on how to progress.

Meh...... A good Idea turned from a good idea to 'stick that s*@t shomewhere and get on with your day.....'. Guess ill let it grow in and see what we got, if anything I cleared a lot of clutter into something I can slowly tweak.

I really like the Pennywort on the top! Just such a cool plant and it doesn’t look like it’s throwing too much shade in your tank.

Thanks, it's probably my favorite floater! I plan to eventually move that heater and trim the mass of pennywort in the middle that does throw some shade, but not until other plants grow in.
