Maggie
There are no fish in my 5 gallon shrimp tank and it looks like copepods are living it up in there. I think I might add a few small rasboras or tetras to this tank.
Guppysnail
Once established and running for awhile tanks turn themselves into full ecosystems with microfauna and flora. With no predators at all they fauna begin to run amuck. I got into CPDs because Of this for my shrimp tank. Now my CPDs are some of my favorite fish. Very fun. Ps great video capture
eatyourpeas
They are awesome algae eaters too! 😍 What is the magnification used on the video? I have seen them like that at 60X. And I am in complete agreement with @Guppysnail on the great video capture!
Maggie
@eatyourpeas it was just my Galaxy phone and not even the best Galaxy phone! I'd siphoned up the leftovers from their food dish into a plastic cup and filmed for about a minute, and created gifs from that. I was amazed when it focused on them so well.

Here's the rest of us, struggling to get a tank with sufficient copepods to raise fry, and you are able to film them casually. 😅 Your Galaxy has an excellent camera!

Maggie
@Torrey @Beardedbillygoat1975 I have so many, even my nerite snail, who I've named Charlie, has his own travelling cleanup crew.
Beardedbillygoat1975
@Maggieyou're going to have some very happy little fish. A group of celestial pearl danios would be great, they breed pretty well in small tanks and they tend not to eat the shrimplets if there is a lot of other food around which this certainly qualifies for!
Maggie
Meet the new copepod destruction squad. They're a little skittish now but seem to be doing fine. My local big box store doesn't have a large selection of fish, but I found one that's been on my list - ember tetras - my first tetra! They had yellow and black guppies (fry, juvies, and adults) that were so adorable I can't stand it. I might go back for a trio of those.
