L144a I think Is the L number. Nose to tail tip 5-6 inches. They are beautiful. Their courtship is like the most beautiful romance movie ever. When she lays he does not trap her. She goes in and out a few time then he waits at the opening and she backs in and he is in and out like a nervous dad. Their babies are about 50/50 split each month longfin/short fin and are super cute too.

CalmedByFish
Fun thread! "My man" is Harold, the angelfish in my profile picture. He's the only fish with a name, and 2 of my other 3 species were bought specifically because they would be both enjoyable for me, and nutritious for him. My primary tank revolves around his needs, and he's the only pet I talk to. 1

Mine lay every 3 week like clockwork 80-120 eggs.

OMG That's basically what I said to @Guppysnail about her lemon plecos, in a private message a few weeks ago. 😂 I opted against pursuing them, for practical reasons. But they sure are eye candy!
Atitagain
Even tho I’m very much focused on planted tanks and smaller varieties of fish right now, it’s my venustus that always catches my eye. His coloration changes with his mood going from a giraffe spotted to a shiny gold, the blue in his face deepens, and the (I call it) mustard blotch on his forehead. 😁😁😁 3
JettsPapa
I can't get a good picture now, but for me it's the group of eight pearl gouramis in my 40 gallon breeder tank. I'll try to get a picture this evening after dark and post it then.

Thank you both, he was an impulse buy about 2 years ago I just got back into the hobby and set up an African cichlid tank. As I walked by he caught my eye so I goggled him and saw what he could be. I didn’t find out how big he would get till I got home and did actual research and so began my MTS. 🤪

Atitagain
I had a 60G already probably over stocked with African cichlids that normally get 6-8”they were all juveniles but they do grow up. And he will get 12-14”😬so a 75G would be bare minimum IMO but 90+ is recommended by most.

scott the fishman
The funnest thing about my tank and my redtail black shark was i knew he was going to be the man. so planning the aqua scape was all for him. staying up all night googling every thing about him was so fun. picking his tank mates, plants rock wood just brought such joy to my life.

He/she died when about 6" long. I only recently found out how big they get!
