Here it is grand reveal!

It wasn’t until I got the plants out that I realized how leggy the polka dot plant was. I trimmed back alot of it so that it will hopefully set runners down and bush out again. The fern is enjoying not being cramped out and after about an hour unfurled it’s fronds.

I have some tropical plants I have yet to ID-they were a gift- that I may use in the background, but I’d prefer to try my hand at air plants and various exotic mosses.

I had to isopod proof various areas, I’m glad these guys are not adept climbers, if it were crickets or cockroaches they’d be all over your house in seconds. The gaps between glass panels is frankly subpar. And these vents are like 3mm wide, most insects could squeeze through. I taped some landscape cloth over. I can’t believe they get away with selling these as “high end.”

The isopods like to cuddle back in the corner of the foam background. It doesn’t appear they can get behind it we will be monitoring this and I may use some grey expandifoam if they start trapping themselves

I have diverged my threads. Checkout “5 gallon vintage AQUARIUM” in my signature for the going ons there.

From now on this thread will focus on the adventures of the orange isopods! They explored the first few days and now I can’t find them anywhere. I added coco fiber to their soil mix to hold humidity as well as sphagnum moss. Added a few days ago Pothos ‘silver devil’s ivy.’ The polka dot plant is coming back very quickly considering how heavily I had to prune it. One short bush has formed as well as 2 “trees” that are leafing up quite nicely. I also have small babies sprouting out of the soil likely from cuttings I didn’t clean up

I also add bearded dragon pellets more frequently and the adults emerge out of nowhere grab them in their clasping front legs and take them into their respective burrows. I fear I have pampered them too much

M Blaptica dubia even subadults could get behind/under the background.  My Zophobas morio worms would chew through bottoms and sides and pupate. The beetle forms could then emerge from the back even adult size. Mine fit tight so I’m not sure if the worms tunneling made spots just large enough. I would find background “pebbles” from the digging in the tank.

I keep pulling the nightstand back off the wall (it has carpet pads) and checking. My SO said I should just seal it with some expanding foam and call it a day. But I like to be difficult.

Oooh boy I haven’t posted in this journal in a minute…

I became very bored of the way it looked and soooo I gave them a little upgrade!

The background is goodstuff black on a styrofoam board. I blacked out the 2 walls with black silicone and gave them a broken tree to climb in. I will also be buying spores of random tropical ferns, mosses, and liverworts to spray on the background to give it more depth and hold moisture.

Silver devil pothos was taken out and repotted, polka dot plant perished to neglect and I moved some baby tears in as well as this vine propagation I started off my mother vine. Getting better at this whole green thumb thing.

OMG a baby slug 🤗. Did you add it or was it a bonus pet?

I just had to add another 50 PO isos. My frog has decidedly they are a delicacy and they can’t seem to quite hide from her. I built a tiny cork wood cave she can’t get in for this group.

Bonus pet! Same with the worms ☺️
