The plant growth has been amazing. I’m getting insane colors on the ludwigia and great growth from the crypts that melted. I’m hoping to see the microswords and the dwarf baby tears coming around after a little melt. It would be a shame to tear it down.

Find some way to get some purigen (a100ml bag) into the water flow. Let it go for 72 hours and come back here and give me an update!!

@ARMYVET I’ll go there next. I’m trying to judge effectiveness of each intervention before going to the next. I’m pretty sure there’s something more sinister going on as I’ve lost ramshorn snails in there.

I understand where your coming from but if there is something organic going on in there...purigen will get it out.

@ARMYVETi got it off Amazon. I went back on not too long ago to grab another and they did not have this size.

14” is the middle diameter, 9-10” at the opening and height is around 14-16”

I think the prices of many aquarium items have gone up in the last 18 months. Geez though 100% markup that’s nuts.

I had a tank that had persistent issues with Cyanobacteria and the lady at a LFS recommended Boyd Chemiclean- it's made for dealing with red Cyanobacteria in saltwater but she assured me it would work on blue green in freshwater as well.  Said lady was *emphatic* to follow the directions (including aeration) exactly and do not overdose.   I followed the directions exactly and dosed with fish, shrimp, and snails still  in the tank- the product cleared the tank of Cyanobacteria in a little over 4 days and it hasn't returned in about 6 weeks and the fish et al seem no worse for the wear.  The product label tells you all the things the product is NOT (e.g. not erythromycin) but, not what it is.  It *is* slow acting- for the 2 1/2 days I wasn't sure it was working...but the bad stuff very slowly dissolved away and in the end it did the job.

Yes I saw that thank you but when I looked at how much water it held it was less than what @Beardedbillygoat1975 has so I assumed he had the bigger one since it holds 11 gallons

@ARMYVET, @NanoNano, thanks for all the constructive feedback. After water change the bowl looks better. I’m hanging tight to see what the Maracyn will do. Think I’d try purigen and sounds like Boyd’s chemiclean would be my last ditch effort before scrapping it and starting over. I’d just like to see some ramshorns surviving and thriving that would tell me I’m on the right path.

I'm afraid I'm not much help with the problems you've been having, my usual reaction to issues is to wait them out (so long as nobody is getting hurt).  But my heavens that bowl is neat, I need one of those.

I’ve seen some good results with the Maracyn treatment. I did a 30-40% water change on Tuesday and have watched this week. I’m getting nice algae growth on the rocks for the first time. Continue to see some nice plant growth from the stems but some of my crypts have melted but also have some new sprouts. I was in Portland for a quick trip and spent a couple glorious hours at The Wet Spot and got some fish and some tissue culture plants - crypts green gecko, a wendtii red version I’d never seen and mioya. Here’s a few updated pics.
