  1. I have been using AquaticLog to track maintenance on tanks - it does help a bit, however, it depends on number of tanks and if you want to enter data into an app as you do the maintenance https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=aquaticlog.mobile.android&hl=en_NZ&gl=US
  2. Yeh, they are an interesting organism! I will keep them around for a while and see how long they last in that tank. Eventually I might get some whiteclouds and see if they go for them or not
  3. Yeh thats the weird thing, that tank only has snails in it with no feeding of live foods only a piece of vegetable once in a while - hopefully they will die out on their own eventually 🙂
  4. Has anyone had any success with white cloud minnows eating and eradicating hydra in a tank? I know that sparkling gourami are probably the best at this, but I have a cold water tank which has a hydra issue.
  5. Managed to get an image of my Pea puffer through some plants 🙂
  6. I have mine (10 gal) with a bare bottom and a sponge filter with snails, when its not being used I raise a daphnia culture in it so that I always have live foods (i have a backup culture as well) - when i need to quarantine fish they get live food straight away and generally motivates them to take on food. Seems to be working well so far i think!
  7. Not in Canada, New Zealand 🙂
  8. I cannot get ich-x where I live unfortunately, is there a suitable replacement for this item in the Med trio? ( Fritz Maracyn, Aquarium Solutions Ich-X, and Fritz ParaCleanse) Apologies if this has already been asked
  9. Welcome to the forum! - tank looks way better!
  10. Thanks! yeh, healthcare providers do recruit a lot for down here - it is an awesome place to live though 🙂 Queenstown and Glenorchy are super pretty places to visit
  11. Yep, thanks - that is what i did 🙂
  12. I did copy and paste the images so that is probably why, will attach the images shortly
  13. That's cool!! - I used to live on the north island, close to the Hawke's Bay actually, a little further north in a place called Gisborne - I am now in the south island down in a place called Dunedin - we are lucky enough to see the Aurora Australis sometimes!
  14. Yep, fair enough - i think sanding might be the key to get a good bond done
  15. Just wondering if people have re-built tanks and which method they went with to join the glass panes together. I know the standard method of placing the silicone on one surface than placing the edge of the glass on to that silicone is the most common method, however, I have been looking into the silicone injection method as well. Opinion is divided on this it seems, most people seem to think the injection method gives a better bond as there is less contact time with air so it makes a stronger bond. Just wanting to see how many people out there have built tanks that are 200 gallons or more and which method they used
  16. Some awesome aquariums there!!
  17. I think this would work quite well assuming the Betta is not full of rage 🙂
  18. definitely come visit! it is an amazing place, some really cool places and things to see. there is a native shrimp species but it isn't really colorful. I might see if that might be an option though
  19. Hi everyone, Have been following aquarium co-op from the early days - great store and awesome advice and product recommendations as well. I have a few tanks setup at the moment mainly small ones, a 5 gallon pea puffer tank, A 20 gallon community and a 15 gallon rummy nose tetra tank I would love to do a shrimp tank one day but unfortunately, there are no shrimp in NZ in the hobby 😞 - will have to eventually get some paperwork sorted to see if i can import some
  20. Yeh fair enough, I think i will just clean the top 2/3rd with the float then hand tools for the edges - There is a ton of val growing in that sand so don't really want to switch it out at the moment
  21. Hi there, Just wondering if anyone uses an iron based sand substrate and if you have had issues with the magfloat cleaner collecting the sand as you clean the glass. Over time this builds up and raises the mag float to a point where the blade at the front is no longer effective. Has anyone experienced this and if so are there any tips on cleaning it off and then preventing it from happening?
