@PineSong I wonder if my issues were just with the fact that my tank had never seen mollies before. It had been a Guppy, dwarf frog and Kuhli Loach haven until that time. That was 3+ years of only that type of occupant. The mollies came in and took over the hood. They ate all the food, chased my guppies, ate the fry, scared my kuhli loaches and pooped more than any fish I'd ever had poop before. There were 4 of them, and they all pooped, all the time. So after a few weeks of that, I convinced my dad to let me have a 55G in the dining room. The mollies got moved out asap. They seasoned the 55G for the future occupants and lived in there for 4 more years.

I don't think I'd drop dollar bucks on a canister for a heavily planted 20G that was for tropicals. But that's just me. Oase are nice from what I have seen. I've only had hands on a larger one for upwards of 100G-200G tanks though.
I would save the cabinet space and go with a HOB like the Aquaclear and hotrod it with bio-rings and sponge.
My sons 20G tall was heavily stocked at one point with 7 guppies, 2 swordtails, 3 corydoras, 7 neon/glowlight tetras, 1 oto, 1 clown pleco, and one ramshorn snail and a batch of baby guppies until they were 3 weeks old. That tank is planted and I never had issues with Nitrate. I only changed the water once a month. And only 25% to suck up swordtail poos and other detritus/mulm that got under the dense plant cover in the back of the tank. That tank has a marineland penguin 150 that I hot-rodded with sponge and a bag of bio-rings.

I love all of your tanks and plants! Your Ludwigas are like all of my Rotalas! I have fallen in love with rotalas.... I love Ludwigas as well but I'm not allowed to buy any more plants... I have a problem with saving cuttings and making science experiments in random taco bell cups all over the house. >.>

My cories have found their new favorite places to hang out. Caught pictures of one this evening. I love it so much!

Could be constipated. Has she been pooping? Did she get knocked around in the turbulence or scared into an object during the water change? If she's not pooping I would fast her for three days and then feed her a de shelled pea frozen, but thawed with a zap in the nuker.
I'm sure others can chime in as well. I am by no means an expert. Just my observations and experience with a female guppy that did a similar stunt.
It could be an infection or parasites as well. But it for sure looks like something to do with her swim bladder.

I told myself I'd never buy swordtails, platies or mollies. All because of my experience with Mollies.
My friend gave me a few mollies when we were in high school because hers had babies... I took them because I was a good friend and had room in my guppy tank (I've always had guppies). I hated those darn mollies. They bullied my guppies and made me buy a whole other fish tank so I could separate them. After that I swore that I would never get a fish like mollies ever again.
Now: when my husband wanted to pick out fish, he wanted a male swordtail. We got him, I knew he needed a friend, so got him a mate. Fast forward 4 months later: I bought my own swordtail pair for the 75G and have babies. I love them, and they get along just fine with my guppies.

This is my first world problem right now.... I have 133 babies right now. Guppy babies.... So. Many. Babies.

Awesome! hahaha, I was just using, what I think, is same fish net in my tank yesterday and sat it down inside the tank to herd fish out of my plants. I was thinking about how solid it is when it's collapsed down. Now I see how I should really be using it! 😛

Sort of looks like a swim bladder issue. What are your parameters like?
I had one of mine develop swim bladder issues after a nitrate spike.

I love it! Babies are always so fun to find.
The movie reference is spot on... We actually just watched that movie with my son on Saturday haha. Hadn't seen it in a few years.

*Facepalm* Shrimp molts... Totally shrimp molts. Sheesus. Still haven only seen one shrimp at a time, but that makes me feel better.

This is the best fish fam ever! It's the best community I've been a part of online outside of an MMO RPG guild or two.

Following this. I'm really excited to see this in application. I have high hopes. This could be a great way to set up a breeder. I may try this in my fry growout tank/10g catch all.

Though you say you are banned, sounds like your partner is good at helping you to know where the limits might be. You have a lot on your plate!! I think guppies are so awesome but I can barely imagine having so many!! It's all I can do to take care of small batches of Otos!
Totally agree. I just hate to have babies that have no home.

You’re absolutely certain they’re carcasses and not molts?
🤔 .... You know, that's not something I even considered. I always assume failure. I guess it could be. I'll have to investigate further tomorrow. I see ghost hued things at the bottom and assume the worst.

Preparing for big changes in guppy management until I can get my house in order: Moved the 2 girls into the 20G tall. They're super, super pregnant... I am honestly surprised they didn't pop yesterday. So, because of how hard it is to catch fry in the 20... when I moved them into there, I put them in a mesh breeder, because I'm no fool... dang fish fam in there won't eat babies, as I found out the hard way.... I don't have the capacity to raise any more right now. I have 3 more weeks until I can offload squad 1-2. and another 6 weeks for squad 3-4. I can't make an outdoor pond to home them right now. My pool is at 54 degrees at the top of the day even with a solar cover. I'm not saying I'll put them in the pool: it is a salt pool and green... but I'm just trending temperatures.
My garage can't home a tank in its current condition and I have been banned from doing any more tanks in the house. Shrimp cube was the limit for additions this year. I knew I'd have baby guppies... but I didn't anticipate that NONE of my fish would want to eat them... I was fine with small broods.... I can deal with what feels like 10 billion guppies every 3 weeks. Though I would like to.... I love the babies. 😞 I'm giving them away as fast as I can at this point. Swordtail babies are sold. Derp Squad 1-2, sold, Squad 3-4, sold. But I just can't change enough water to deal with the upcoming squads. I do have a real job, other hobbies, 80+acres to steward, general chores, a kid... etc. One day I hope to be able to just focus on my joys, but I'm not there yet!
Paco.... is in the 75 now. He's chasing Goby around relentlessly like he did Misty. He's a lot of guppy for a single fish.

excellent at hiding
I wish this was the case. However carcases don't lie. 😞 There's only one. I watch my tanks for many hours a day, count all the fish, look for anything discolored, etc. Sadly I've counted out all of the Amano carcases as they've passed.

I am sorry for your loss. We all make mistakes!
A few weeks ago I got some Amano shrimp... I was going by the advice of my LFS because of my pH... and didn't do any research beforehand since I had originally wanted to get cherry shrimp and had done my research but was worried about the differences between my water parameters and what my LFS keeps their shrimp at.
Long story short, I didn't think about my crazy hard water... I started with 5 Amanos, I now have 1. I'm working on lowering my GH. But I still felt like a bad fish/shrimp mom for not thinking about this parameter. Doing my best to keep moving forward.

I'm with Colu. Paracleanse treatment sounds like the best course of action right now.
Hang in there! You've got this. It can be really frustrating to deal with fish illnesses/diseases.

my wife was something other than pleased at the improbable range and coverage of sugar water from such an eruption. “THE WHOLE HOUSE SMELLS LIKE BREAD AND OR BEER!”
I laughed so hard at this!

We brew beer, make wine, meads and run CO2 to kegs in a chest freezer turned "keezer" so I have some check valves that will hold up for this application!

Will do! It stays cold enough this time of year to make it in the living space!
Thank you for the detailed notes on your experience. I will definitely be rigging up a carboy next to the 75G soon. Maybe not my sons 20G tall though.... Don't really want his room to smell like booze all the time.
Edited to add that the first thing I said to my Husband this morning, while still in bed, was "I've had an epiphany... I'm going to use the CO2 from making booze... to inject CO2 into my fish tank. Genius!" He rolled his eyes at me, nodded, and then I saw the eyebrow raise of acceptance.

I know this is not helpful surrounding nitrogen... But. Sweet! I never thought to use yeast. I'm assuming you get CO2 generation for about 2 weeks.
Now I'm thinking about reusing my higher tolerance wine yeasts for my fish tank CO2...
I see what look like inline filters on your lines. Did you ever have any issues with it getting too warm and getting krausen(foam) into the airline you're using?
I bet I could make Mead next to my 75G! 😂
Yup, going to make Mead next to the aquarium, for science.

Looks great! I love the variety in colors and I love the hydrocotyle tripartita in the foreground. I look forward to seeing everything fill in! The stone layout is great.

I suck at growing it
I suck at growing java moss. I do okay with Christmas moss at least.
@Atitagain That sounds good to me! or Dwarf Sagittaria if you don't want it to spread so quickly. At least for me that's how it goes. My sagittaria has grown much more slowly than my chain sword; and is a bit taller. Less ferts on the sagittaria though.

Got your eye on any particular plants that you're going to add next? After the new year of course. 🙂

I'm an insane person and have 5 new pairs of guppies coming today.... They will be separated by gender between the 20g and the 75g. This finishes out the stocking for my Sons 20G until further notice at least. So I won't be buying any more guppies for a good while... Unless we move, and I get to have more fish tanks in the house. 😛
I will raise whatever fry come from the girls that come pregnant, but I'm hoping that they're still juvies and aren't pregnant. Though I know this is unlikely... I can dream!
I'm retiring the two females I have from breeding duties. They'll only ever have the babies they have stored now, and no more beyond that. Everyone deserves to retire at some point, even fish.
The 10G catch all is full of babies that are coloring up a bit. They're going to all be very interesting. I look forward to sending squad 1-2 off next month. They've been a joy to watch grow. The dragon dumbo red mosaic babies are really coloring up in the 75G, I look forward to sending them off. It's hard to not keep one or two.
The otos are still chunky as can be but playing like normal and eating like normal. They're super cute chunkos.
The swordtail babies are growing up quickly and are stunning. Most of the lot is solid black with the yellow fins which bodes well for how they're going to color up as teens. There are still some with patches but I'm sure they'll color up nicely as well. If not that's fine, they'll still be beautiful and people will love them!
I saw a shrimp today and have seen two molts in the last two days... I didn't think they molted so much. But I'm happy to know that there are some alive in there! I didn't murder them all with ignorance!
