  1. Looking for some fresh water fish that like flow. I have a power head on the right side of the tank position to blow across the top to create surface tension because I had a hard time getting the canister filter outlet to do so. Any suggestions?? Also looking for something that likes to much on small snails. Some plants I had for another tank had some eggs and we have a little bit of a snail outbreak. Thanks!
  2. Does anyone have any good high temperature stem plants to recommend? The tank hovers from 80-81 and is medium to low light. Have a lot of swords but currently nothing besides some Pogostemon feeding from the water column. Just set up the tank and want to cycle with some plants in there. Thanks!!
  3. How does this material work with a light approve it, love the idea and it's just what I have been looking for! With my 2 year old, hot wheels would have ended up swimming with the fishes without any kind of lid.
  4. Starting a 75 Gallon tank and curious how/where everyone with bigger setups finds driftwood for their tank? Does anyone scavenge it or use pieces they come across on the beach? Or is it better to bite the bullet and spend the money on the more expensive pieces some aquarium stores sell online? Thanks for any feedback! -Kyle
  5. How many Angels for a 75 gallon tank? Was thinking 4-6 because of the way they pair up? Want to leave the middle open for plenty of swinging space but would like to have as heavily planted as possible.
  6. Well used tank, but 75 gallons! Biggest tank I’ve ever done and my 2 year old loves the fish in my 15 gallon. Building this for him as much as me. I want Angelfish and Rainbows in a community setup. Does anyone have any suggestions on angelfish setups? From how to arrange the decor, to the keeping of the actual fish. I have two thriving small planted aquariums and am really looking forward to getting this setup now that we have the space! Would like some bottom dwellers to go along with the angels as well as a potential school of smaller (but not snack sized) tetra or other fish. Looking forward to everyone’s thoughts and setups! -Kyle
  7. The flex runs at about 75 degrees with a heater and the biorb is strictly room temp. Biorb is older but both tanks are old and very established. Nothing in either tank that would eat the shrimp either. I do use ferts in the flex for my plants. Easy Green, Easy Iron, and Seachem Potassium, all invert friendly
  8. Currently have a Biorb 5 gallon and a Fluval Flex 15 gallon. The biorb houses my neo caradina colony and they’re thriving. However we are moving and I’d like to break the biorb down and move everything to the flex so I can set up the biorb at the new house and let it cycle. The last time I had shrimp in my Fluval flex, for whatever reason the shrimp never made it. They would die during molting because they couldn’t break out of their own shells. Is it the water quality? I NEVER change the water in the biorb, literally just top off because the shrimp produce such little waste. I do about 30% water change every two weeks in the Fluval flex. Would this be why the shrimp have issues molting? Same tap water going into both tanks. Thanks!
  9. Does anyone have experience with fish tumors or growth. One of my tummy nosed tetras has an off looking tumor on it. Otherwise completely normal. Has anyone dealt with this in this particular species?
  10. Recently moved our cat tree next to the tank dresser and have since been losing fish. Pretty confident it’s nothing to do with quality and that the fish are stressed by the cats. Several water tests and nothing out of the ordinary. Has anyone else got any experience with cats stressing livestock like this?
  11. Unfortunately lost my honey gourami this evening 😞 noticed some signs that may be related to it’s death, and was wondering if anyone else had a similar experience? He was hanging down at the bottom, or the top with little movement/swimming. Yesterday he looked better, but didn’t eat anything when I fed them. This evening I came home from work to see him dead at the bottom of the tank. I keep him with neon tetra, rummy nosed tetra, kuhli loaches, a peacock gudgeon, and a SAE. All of them are fine and very lively. After testing the water, 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites, 30 nitrates, 7.2ph, 77 degrees. Has anyone noticed similar issues with this fish. Have had him for 6 months and never had an issue before. Changed 50% of the water this evening in case it was some kind of disease. Thanks for any help!
  12. Where do you get that tank filled at once empty? That’s where I’m having a tough time
  13. What does everyone use for their nano CO2 setups? I have a regulator that screws onto a paintball tank. HOWEVER…quickly learning nobody fills paintball tanks anymore, so starting to realize that I may need a new setup. It’s a shame because this was super easy. Does anyone have any suggestions?? Thanks!
  14. Yes! I’m about 20, love that place!!
  15. Went to school in NC and would relish the opportunity to go out when home on breaks for LEGIT cheesesteaks
  16. Thanks for the input, with this water quality I don’t really see any benefit of taking out all the fertilizers by doing a water change, only to replace them later. Maybe if the water change was strictly RO water or something?
  17. Forgive me if this is a silly question, but if a tank is balanced, what good are water changes? If after testing, parameters are stable and in line with where they are meant to be for healthy plants, should water changes still be done? What does it replace other than nitrates? Water quality isn’t the best here in South Jersey, so wondering if I should just be periodically topping of with RO water or something. Just curious on everyone’s thoughts. Thanks!
  18. I do a 40% water change every two weeks. Maybe not enough? Ammonia and Nitrates are always fine I’m thinking nutrient deficiency, just unsure what. I think it’s either Phosphorus or Potassium. I usually dose in the mornings a few hours before the lights come on
  19. Trying to come up with a fertilizer regiment after some of the plants really slowed growth. Some of the stem plants are browning at the base. Have one led bar come on at about 1pm on low then turn the other on high at 3pm and they run about 9 hours total. Co2 comes on at about 2pm and shuts off at 9pm, an hour before the lights go off. Tested nitrates-low, about 10ppm. Tested Phosphorus, almost 0. Ammonia and Nitrites 0. Wondering how much fertilizer to put in for a 15 gallon with this many plants. I dose with Easy Green, Easy Iron, Seachem Potassium and Phosphorus. Curious if anyone can direct me as to potential dosing quantities. Should I dose more than the 15 gallon amount with all the plants? Thanks for any help!!
  20. Read this and it was useful information when my crypts starting melting when I increased the light brightness. Hope it helps
  21. Anyone have experience with Anacharis? Trimmed it a couple weeks ago and has not regrown from the trimmed stems since. Same thing with a couple Cabomba plants too. Light at about 70% brightness and nitrates about 20ppm, temp 73-74 degrees.
  22. I did, used Rid Ich plus for four days to clear it up
