I'm just starting out completely with planted tank, only got the basic plants recommended here. Will take a while to establish.

Was aiming for cory cat for algae control heard they were efficient in a school that's why I have sand down. Going to be adding a planted "island" at the back center for a display. Would you say the bristlenose is better?

I got mine from petsmart and it is quite tall. I had to use a spatula to spread substrate and bought tweezers when I go to plant anything. Won't be adding any algae eaters for a couple weeks at least.

Shipping fail! Not on the part of Aquarium Co-Op that came a day early but now my substrate and hardscape won't arrive until Friday at the earliest. Will the plants I ordered be alright in a bucket of water for a few days? Recommendations to help them live? I've got root tabs and easy green. Thanks!

Also how many fish can I get into a 60 gallon?

I know Fruval stratum will lower PH but does the same go for other plant substrates like Eco-Complete?

Curious to know of a good way to drop PH from about 8+ down to the neutral 7 range without introducing tannins or expensive substrate. Tried PH down it had no effect. Thanks

I've got a new 60 gallon and I'm looking for ideas on what to put in it with the Opaline Gourami I'm going to start with. This will be a planted tank but still waiting on elements to arrive before I can get her going. All input welcome. Thanks in advance!
