this fish has been identified as a weed shiner.

I have been noticing that one of my kuhli loaches is glass surfing in a very eratic manner. They normally do this when I do a water change but this one keeps glass surfing. It will seem fine for a bit then it will get spooked and swim around the glass and then hide then glass surfing again. There is a large piece of mopani wood for it to hide under and I’m adding some leaves for more cover. What else could I do to keep it from glass surfing?

I was wondering why is there a 29 and a 30 gallon? Is one better than the other in certain circumstances?

I recently found a few of these on some plants I collected from a pond. I was wondering what this is and would it be a problem if I’m colony breeding pigmy sunfish? Also are water mites a problem because I found those in the tank as well.

After some research I found that the pigmy sunfish I caught is actually a female since the fins are clear and the males have dark fins. also I added some plants from a pond on Saturday and added the sunfish to my 5 gallon breeding tank on Sunday. This is where I will keep any other pigmy sunfish I catch until the 10 gallon is set up, also if anyone knows what kind of plant this is please tell me.

I’m considering starting a black worm culture but I know nothing about them except that they are good for fish and reproduce by segmentation. I was wondering how to culture them? Can I keep them with my moina? If so can they live in high ammonia (8ppm or higher). If not can I just use a plastic container with a filter? Also what should I feed them? I will not need to culture large numbers of black worms, just enough to be a treat for some fish or to be used for conditioning.

He doesn’t have that option and if I set up an outdoor darter tank I won’t either. Would 70 be fine inside? Also would there be a way to chill an outdoor tank?

Would room temperature be fine? If not how would he need to chill the water? If I can culture black worms would that work as well?

A shadow bass tank would be pretty cool to set up one day. Especially since the places my brother normally finds them is around logs that are out of the main current but still have a good bit of water flowing past and it would be interesting to imitate that in an aquarium. also my one of my other brother is thinking about trying darters. He regularly goes through phases about what he wants to keep though so he may change his mind on that.

I use a sponge filter as a prefilter. One reason I want the ammonia down is because I have snails In that tank and I don’t think they like the ammonia since most of them are always at the surface and they don’t move much. Also I figured the moons would be doing even better with the ammonia gone.

My 10 gallon moina culture has had high ammonia (8ppm at least) for at least a month now. Once after a roughly 90 percent water change the ammonia was still at 2 ppm. Currently I have a hob filter that I turn off sometimes so that the yeast and spirulina is not filtered out. Currently I am running seachem purigen and Fluval ammonia pads in the filter and I just removed the pad the filter came with that had carbon in it. Along with large water changes what can I do to get rid of the ammonia?

What’s a riparium? I have heard the term a time or two but I don’t know what it means.

I have only kept one school of cherry barbs other than the one I have now so I’m no expert. If im not mistaken my previous school of cherry barbs were mostly peaceful though I think they would chase other smaller fish every so often. I would consult other more experienced hobbyists since I don’t have much experience with most fish. That’s alright. I mostly was just being sure if my stocking plan was to much or if the Amazon puffer would be a problem.

Do you mean part of the picture from clear creek? If that is what you mean then sort of. I took multiple pictures of the same fish. if you mean pictures of fish in general then yes I have a lot more but they are not for documenting species that I catch in different locations.

I’m starting this journal earlier than I had planned since I caught a pigmy sunfish unexpectedly. Currently I have it in what I think is a 2.5 gallon cube but I will be moving it to a 5 gallon if there is no cherry barb fry on Saturday. Once the guppy fry in my 10 gallon are large enough to get rid of I will begin to set that tank up for more pigmy sunfish. Also I’m pretty sure that it is a male since it is a very dark brown and I think the males are darker than the females but I will have to do more research on that when I begin to stock the 10 gallon.

I have wanted to document the fish I have either caught or seen in Clear Creek. Last time I tried I lost the pictures. Also these are the names of fish I didn’t catch today black tail shiner, shadow bass, and spotted bass. bluegill longear sunfish possibly a shiner? northern hogsucker dusky darter banded pigmy sunfish my brother caught these next two spotted gar ( the one under the log is a different fish) Possibly red spotted sunfish?
