  1. Hi, I have had this little worm thing on the glass of my tank. It has been too small to see details until now. I put a suction cup over it to isolate it until I can figure this out. I have attached a picture, although not a great own. There does not appear to be a triangular head so I don't think it is a Planaria. I looks like it might have 2 little antena looking protrusions on one end. Any thoughts about what it might be?
  2. So sorry you had this challenge. Thank you for sharing so us newbies can learn.
  3. Thank you Nora, this is very helpful.
  4. Thank you Beardedbillygoat1. This was very helpful and now I know to do something sooner.
  5. I referred to this forum. I had an Ember Tetra die today. For about a week it was swimming funny. It looked a little swollen/bloated but I wondered if it was pregnant. Then I noticed it was always swimming head up, it was in constant motion and its mouth was always moving. It ate and its color was good. I was told it sounded like a swim bladder issue. I am new, could someone please educate me about swim bladder issues? I got a basic understanding from another poster. What are the early signs and what do I do about it?
  6. Please give me more information on "swim bladder", I am a newbie. My tank has been established since October 2023. I have very stable parameters to the point where I just top it off a couple times a week with declorinated water and clean the filter when needed. There are Ramshorns snails (just had an explosion) cherry shrimp, Ember Tetras, Green Neon Tetras, pygmy corys and a couple of Otocinclus'. The tank is planted pretty densly and has wood harscape.
  7. Hi All, I had a dead Ember Tetra in my tank this morning. For a little over a week I noticed one that looked like it had a big belly. It swam nose up, it's mouth was always moving, if it was an airplane I would say it could not get altitude when it swam and it was in constant motion. It ate, it's color was good and I just wondered if it was pregnant. I am wondering what killed it and if it is something that could spread. All other fish look fine. Thoughts?
  8. Hmm, Interesting. The object is most definately rectangular. Thanks for your thoughts.
  9. My picture is not great however I hope you can help me figure this out. I have shrimp, Ramshorn snails and a few Tetras in my tank. Today I looked over my tank and this was on the side. There is a snail hanging on the bottom but what is the rectangular thing on the glass. I looks like there is something inside.
  10. I wonder if it is a batch issue. Mine bleed in the KH and PH area as well. Could we have an Admin weigh in on this issue? There are a lot of us that have this issue and it would be good to know if they are looking into it.
  11. Thank you, it is so frustrating not be able to upload a video. I know I have seen them here before, how do you do it? My parameters are all steady. I have a 25 Nitrate, Nitrite 0, GH 25, KH 40, PH 6.8 and Chlorine 0. Like I said thought, they are steady and do not fluxuate.
  12. Crushed coral works really well. Pay attention to the use directions as it also works really fast.
  13. How long does it last and how often do you feed?
  14. I could not attach a video, download is the best I got.

Is this guy swimming funny or do they all have their own style? I have not noticed this prior to today. Fish is swimming with a jerky style, nose up, appears to have difficulty getting high in the water and its mouth is moving constantly. Very different from the other Ember Tetras/
  16. Hi Chad, Thank you for your input. I want to have a planted tank and I think if it is wall to wall shrimp that would be too many. I am looking at Blue Velvet shrimp and will probably only have a 10 gallon tank.
  17. I am starting a shrimp tank but don't want a huge population. I am wondering if there are fish that will eat baby shrimp but not adults. Thoughts?
  18. Yes, the green ones grow algea internally. Ramshorn snails will eat them.
  19. I read through the Blogs for AC and found this blog https://www.aquariumcoop.com/blogs/aquarium/hydra#:~:text=Luckily%2C you can add snails, not eaten by the fry. I have a hydra and I have a bunch of baby Ramshorn snails so I am not going to worry about it unless it gets bad.
  20. I am hoping you can tell me about the Green Alien I found in my tank today, picture below. I have Ramshorn snail babies and am waiting for Red Cherry Shrimp babies. The Tetras I have in the tank do not seem to be bothering the alien. Just need to know if it is harmful or not.
