  1. Yes I really don't mind 20 percent of what I got. I am currently trying to feed less. My biggest concern was my pleco. I will get him a piece of driftwood to east on. That was my next decor to get. That and some more plants. The tank has been going very well for me. Levels are great and I don't want to disturb too much of the ecosystem with adding a bunch of iron to the tank. Right now my quarantine tank is in use. The assassin snails. Sounds like a good idea though. I do like the ramshorn. They just breed like rabbits lol. I don't feed that much it's just they eat the plecos food.
  2. So I have a 50 gallon bow tank. It runs about 78 degrees. 7.0 ph no ammonia. I have live plants 2 ghost shrimp a bristle nose pleco and I am down to 4 neon. I just bought another 6 neon and 6 Celestial Pearl Danio they are currently in a quarantine tank. Been in there for about 2 weeks. My worry is the amount of ramshorn snails I have. I have been only lightly feeding my neon's to try and dwindle the snail population. I am afraid my pleco is not getting enough food. Every time I drop a small wafer in there the snails bombard it and eat it all. I don't mind the snails I do have alot of them. Should I be worried about my pleco. He stays in the rocks most of the time. He does not look unhealthy.
  3. Thank you for the explanation nabokovfan87
  4. So got a question about my amano shrimp. I have three in my tank. The smallest one which is very dark compared to the other ones is my most active shrimp. The other 2 which are a bit larger kind of hide out till the lights go off. It's a 50 gallon bow tank with 7 neon's one bristle nose one snail and 3 Amano shrimp. Filtered by an fx4 turned down. Finnex planted light on 8 hours a day probably a little too long because it's lightly planted. I got a little hair algae that's what the shrimps are mostly eating. Is the dark color nornal. One of them just recently molted and I can really tell which on but I believe it to be my larger one. Not the dark colored one. I could be wrong though. I did not see it happen. My temp is 79 degrees Ph 7.2 No ammonia 20 ppm nitrates 0 nitrites.
  5. Hello All and thanks for the welcome. Im sure that once that goldfish outgrows that 20 gallon I will need something way bigger for him. May set up a cold water 55 for him and some others just not goldfish. Sorry I know there are some goldfish lovers out there they just get too big for most aquarist. They need tons of room to grow.
  6. Oh the goldfish was not going in the tank with the neon's and the Apisto's he has his own 20 gallon long. Sorry should have clarified that.
  7. I am a renewed aquarist. My daughter won a goldfish at a carnival. I do wish I would have told her no lol I will go and buy you a fish. Now I have a 2 year old gold fish that is thriving and I know I will never have a tank big enough to house this common fancy tailed goldfish. So long story short went and bought a used tank on marketplace a 50 gallon bow front and it came with an fx4 very overkill but I don't mind. It was cheap. I want to do some Apisto's community tank. None of my local fish stores have Apisto's any idea of a good online source for them. Locals say they can't find a good breeder atm. I cycled the tank for a month got decent nitrate levels and bought some neon's. Just to see how they would do. One did die but the others are thriving. 2 got some fin damage so I have them in a quaretine tank getting treated. Also have a bristlenose in the 50 as well. Thank you for any replies.
  8. Use a mix of vinegar and water. About 1 to 4 ratio.
