Kat_Rigel
Need some advice regarding some rice fish I am getting from a fellow hobbyist. If you had to choose, which is the better option for starting your own breeding colony? A) 4 adults (3 female, 1 male) B) 20 fry about 0.5" They will unfortunately need to be shipped across the country so I am thinking the adults are the better choice, but I am worried about losing the lone male. Thoughts? (I could also get both but... I am trying not to be too greedy lol But if you think thats the best option, please let me know!)
Administrators Cory Posted August 30, 2020 Administrators Share Posted August 30, 2020 I’d definitely take the fry. They’ll adapt to your water better.

Speaking of breeding what’s ur best way to control guppy fry population In ur tanks? I got shrimp in that tank too but trying to just control the guppies cause they seem to have fry every month lol and got like 10 females TIA
Andy's Fish Den
I too would go for the group of fry. They'll adapt to your water easier and with a group that size, your bound to have more than one male. As for guppy population control, you could stick to one sex, I've seen some nice looking tanks of just male guppies.
Errk25
I’ve got my first Medaka coming across country this week. 8 young ones, but not fry. I’m not too worried about the trip as they are pretty tough from everything I’ve read. Been wanting them for while.
